Former Vian player’s ATU Golden Suns take weekend series from SE Oklahoma
Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Kacie Gibbins and her Arkansas Tech University Golden Suns took two of three weekend series games from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, taking both Saturday games by scores of 4-1 and 8-2 before losing Sunday’s series finale 3-2.

In the Game 1 win on Saturday over Southeastern Oklahoma State, Gibbins was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and a run batted in, while going 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the nightcap.
In Sunday’s loss to Southeastern, Gibbins was 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Through 29 games, Gibbins is hitting .310 with nine doubles, a solo homer, 18 RBIs, 16 runs scored and four stolen bases. Gibbins and the Golden Suns (14-15 overall, 6-8 in Great American Conference play) were slated to return to action Tuesday with a road doubleheader against Northeastern State University in Tahlequah before returning home this weekend for a three-game home series against East Central University at Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville, Ark., with a 3 p.m. Friday doubleheader and a noon Saturday game.
