Lady Vikings suffers sweep at hands of SAU Tech

The Carl Albert State College softball team lost both home games to Southern Arkansas University Tech on Saturday, losing by scores of 8-6 and 21-2 in five innings.
In the opener, the visitors jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning. However, the Lady Vikings (4-11) tried to rally as, trailing 8-2 after three innings, they scored once in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 8-6 but got no closer.
In defeat, Tynli McCarty was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Ryleigh Tiger was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, Tatum Tinsley was 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs batted in and Kami Autrey doubled with an RBI and a run scored for the Lady Vikings.
Autrey (1-4) took the loss, getting a strikeout in three innings. Sophia Abbott went the final four innings with a strikeout.
In the nightcap, the visitors jumped out to an even bigger lead than in Game 1 as SAU Tech scored four runs in the first inning, seven ruins in the second inning, six runs in the third inning and twice in the fourth inning for a 17-0 lead to put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Delaynie Ross tripled and scored once, McCarty singled with an RBI, Kinlee Basquez singled and scored once and Kyleigh Ritchie singled for CASC.
Basquez (1-3) took the loss, going the first 1.2 innings. Abbott went the final 3.1 innings with two strikeouts.
After facing the Central Baptist College Lady Mustangs in a road doubleheader Tuesday in Conway, Ark., the Lady Vikings will continue the road trip with a pair of games at 1 p.m. Thursday against Arkansas State University-Three Rivers in Malvern, Ark.
