Sallisaw teams get home sweep over Heavener
The Sallisaw High School soccer teams entered Spring Break Week on a high note as they each defeated the visiting Heavener squads Thursday night at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium.
The Sallisaw High School soccer teams entered Spring Break Week on a high note as they each defeated the visiting Heavener squads Thursday night at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium.
The Lady Diamonds began the evening with a 5-1 win over the Lady Wolves, while the Black Diamonds ended the night with a 5-3 victory.
In the girls’ match, the Lady Diamonds (3-1) got single goals from AvaLynn Donaldson, Bella Morales, Kyra Taylor, Promise Flute and Emilie Robbins. Brooklyn Donaldson had two assists, while Taylor and Alayna Donaldson each had an assist apiece. Jocelyn Rivera played goalkeeper in the first half and had three saves, then Flute had three saves in net in the second half.
In the boys’ contest, Wes Rodriguez had another hat trick, while Cesar Morales and Sama Salinas each had a goal for the Black Diamonds (5-0). Morales, Rustyn Romero and Brecken Hennessee each had an assist. Josh Taylor had five saves in the match.
The Sallisaw soccer teams will return to action April 1 when they travel to Gravette, Ark., with the girls’ match at 5 p.m. and the boys’ contest at 7 p.m.
