By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

The Carl Albert State College baseball team took a pair of doubleheaders from Southeastern Arkansas late last week, winning 18-3 in five innings and 14-10 on March 13 at Mark Pollard Park at Ival Goodman Field and taking two games from the opposition on Sunday in Pine Bluff, Ark., by scores of 10-7 and 12-4.

In the opener on March 13, the Vikings (19-5) broke a 1-all tie with a seven-run second inning, a three-run third inning and a seven-run fourth inning for an 18-1 lead after four innings to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Keypher DeLeon was 2-for-3 with his second home run of the season with four runs batted in, while Royce Florenzano doubled with two runs scored and an RBI for the Vikings.

Gage Elliott (5-0) got the complete five-inning win, striking out seven batters and scattering five hits.

In the nightcap on March 13, the Vikings broke a 10-all tie with a four-run sixth inning after Southeast Arkansas tied the game at 10-all with three runs in the top of the frame.

DeLeon was 3-for-4 with a double, his third homer and four RBIs, Dominic Ornelas was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI, Florenzano was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs, Kip Christian was 2-for-6 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored and Brooks Herrera was 2-for-5 with his first homer of the season, two RBIs and two runs scored for CASC.

Trenton Golden (40) got the win in relief, going 2.1 innings with two strikeouts. Blake Lindsey got the start and went 1.1 innings with a strikeout. Seth Hubbard went the next four innings with four Ks. Jaxon Spangler got the final four outs of the game, two of which came by strikeout.

In Sunday’s opener, a five-run third inning rallied the Vikings from a 2-1 first-inning deficit to a 6-2 lead. After Southeast Arkansas scored single runs in the third and fifth innings cut its deficit to 6-4 after five innings, the Vikings scored once in the sixth inning and three runs in the seventh inning to take a 10-4 lead.

For the game, Christian was 3-for-4 with a double, his third and fourth homers of the season, four RBIs and three runs scored, DeLeon was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Jett Frazier hit a two-run homer — his first of the season — for the Vikings.

Duke Walker (3-1) got the win, going the first five innings with five strikeouts. After Tanner Mullins got the next five outs, one of which was by strikeout, Madden Dillard got his first save of the season as he got the final out of the game.

In Sunday’s nightcap, the Vikings jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning, which became a 7-2 lead after two innings and a 9-2 lead after four innings. The Vikings put an exclamation point on the victory with a threerun ninth inning.

For the game, Christian was 4-for-5 with two more homers, Nos. five and six, with four RBIs and three runs scored, while Ornelas was 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for CASC.
