Black Diamonds beat Idabel after defeating Hartshorne in SE Shootout

IDABEL — The Sallisaw Black Diamonds ran their record to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in District 4A-8 play as they picked up an 11-4 district road win over the Idabel Warriors on Monday afternoon.

The Black Diamonds broke a scoreless tie with a three-run second inning and a four-run third inning to take a 7-0 lead, which became a 9-3 advantage after four innings and an 11-3 lead after five innings.

For the game, Brodie Cameron was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored, while Dagan Grizzle hit his second home run of the season for Sallisaw.

Creed Nelson (3-0) got the win, going the first three innings with four strikeouts. Rylan Eagle went the next two innings, then Cameron went the final two frames with three Ks.

SALLISAW 11, HARTSHORNE 5

Thursday afternoon at the Southeast Shootout in Battiest, the Black Diamonds broke a 5-all tie with a pair of three-run innings in the fifth and sixth innings to take an 11-5 lead into the seventh inning.

For the game, Brodie Cameron was 3-for-4 with his second home run of the season and three runs batted in, Luke Pack was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Creed Nelson was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, Dagan Grizzle was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, Broque Oft doubled and scored once and Easton Wolfe doubled for Sallisaw.

Rylan Eagle (1-0) got the win in relief, going three innings with eight strikeouts. Wolfe started and went the first two innings with five Ks. Grizzle got the final three outs.

WEBBERS FALLS 16, GANS 0, 3 INN.

Monday evening in Gans, the Warriors (3-5) put away the game early with a six-run first inning. A six-run second inning and a four-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Trysten Wilbourn was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and a run batted in, while Brutus Robinson doubled for Webbers Falls.

Wilbourn (1-0) got the win in relief, going the final two innings with four strikeouts. Ryan Cowan started and went the opening inning with two Ks. The duo combined on a onehitter.

In defeat, Jasper Green’s single was all the Grizzlies (0-3) could muster offensively.

Jaxon Ragsdale took the loss, lasting only two-thirds of an inning. Austin Hines went the final 2.1 innings with four strikeouts.

VIAN 6, WARNER 4

Monday afternoon in Vian, Riley Ellis hit a one-out, tworun, walk-off home run in the seventh inning to break a 4-all tie and give the Wolverines (9-5) the victory.

For the game, Ellis was 2-for-4 with a double, his first homer of the season and two runs scored, Kaden Fulbright was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored and Jeremiah Marshall was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run batted in for Vian.

Ellis (1-0) got the win in relief, going the final three innings with seven strikeouts. Michael Polecat started and went the first four innings with five Ks.

Thursday through Saturday at the Ripley Tournament, the Wolverines split their four games during the Spring Break Week tournament.

In the win over the Ripley junior varsity, the Wolverines, who trailed 1-0 in the first inning, scored three runs in the first inning and twice in the second inning to take the lead for good at 5-1 after two innings. A three-run sixth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Draighton Fletcher was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, Stryker Fields was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Kaden Fulbright doubled with an RBI, Riley Ellis doubled with an RBI and a run scored and Cash Collins tripled with two RBIs and two runs scored for Vian.

Fulbright (1-2) got his first win of the season, going all six innings with six strikeouts.

In the loss to Sterling, the Tigers broke a 4-all tie with a two-run third inning to take the lead for good at 6-4. After the Wolverines cut their deficit to 6-5 in the fourth inning, the Tigers scored twice in the fourth inning and once in the fifth inning to seal the deal.

In defeat, Manny Terrill doubled and scored once, while Jeremiah Marshall tripled with two RBIs and two run scored for Vian.

Michael Polecat (2-2) suffered the loss, despite recording seven strikeouts in four innings. Fletcher got the final two outs of the game.

In the victory over Morrison, the Wolverines jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Vian put away the game with a five-run second inning and a two-run third inning for a 10-1 lead.

For the game, Fletcher was 3-for-5 with a run scored, Ellis was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, Cash Collins was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored, Drake Collins was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Terrill doubled with two RBIs for Vian.

Chris Cheater (1-0) got the win in relief, pitching the most innings in the game, three, and getting a strikeout. Terrill started and went the first two innings, then Clayton Thomas pitched the third inning and Fletcher the fourth inning.

In the loss to Hammon, the Warriors broke a 4-all tie with a two-run second inning and a fiverun third inning for an 11-4 lead after three innings.

In defeat, Polecat was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two run scored, Marshall was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Ellis doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Vian.

Drake Collins (0-1) took the loss, going the first 1.2 innings with three strikeouts. After Thomas got the final out of the second inning, Marshall went the final two innings with three Ks.

STIGLER 8, MULDROW 2

Monday evening in Stigler, the Panthers (11-0 overall, 4-0 in District 4A-8 play) broke a scoreless tie with a three-run third inning. After the Bulldogs (3-7, 0-4) cut their deficit to 3-1 in the fourth inning, the Panthers responded with a fourrun fourth inning to take a 7-1 lead after four innings.

In defeat, Wyatt Prewett was 2-for-3, while Jonah Claborn signed for Muldrow’s three hits.

Jace Prewett (1-2) suffered the loss, despite striking out seven batters in six innings. Five of Stigler’s eight runs were unearned due to five Muldrow errors.

CAMERON 12, CENTRAL 5

POCOLA 12, CENTRAL 0, 3 INN.

Monday afternoon in Cameron, the Tigers (3-8) suffered a pair of losses to begin the week.

In the loss to Cameron, the host Yellowjackets (10-1) rallied from a 3-1 second-inning deficit with an eight-run second inning and a run in the third inning to put the ’Jackets ahead 12-3 after three innings.

In defeat, Aidan Sainer was 2-for-3, Paitton Merrill was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, Waylen Campbell was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, Hardy Buzzard doubled and scored once and Kage Poindexter doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Central.

Campbell (1-1) took the loss, going the first 1.1 innings with a strikeout. Buzzard went the final 2.2 innings with three Ks.

In the loss to Pocola, Pocola pitcher Ty Jerrell threw two-hitter with five strikeouts.

The Indians (5-4) scored twice in the first inning and 10 runs in the second inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Kyle Harden tripled and Poindexter singled for Central.

Ryker Miller (0-2) suffered the loss, going 1.2 innings with a strikeout. Kiefer Bailey got the final out of the game.

RED OAK 16, GORE 6

Monday afternoon in Gore, the Eagles (5-2) rallied from a 6-2 thirdinning deficit with a pair of fourrun innings in the fourth and sixth innings, then put the exclamation point on the come-from-behind win with a six-run seventh inning.

In defeat, Kason Short was 2-for-3 with a run batted in and a run scored, Kyler McGee was 2-for-4 and Keeton Rowe doubled and scored once for the Pirates (5-4).

James Brasuell (2-2) suffered the loss in relief, going the final 3.2 innings with three strikeouts. Tate Brooksher started and went the first 3.1 innings with two strikeouts.

SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK., 12, MULDROW 6

Friday evening in Siloam Springs, Ark., the Panthers rallied from a 4-3 deficit with a two-run third inning, a two-run fifth inning and a five-run sixth inning to take a 12-4 lead after six innings.

In defeat, Gabe Miller was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Jace Prewett was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Jackson Phillips was 2-for-2 with a run scored and Jonah Claborn doubled with two runs scored and an RBI for Muldrow.

Claborn (1-2) suffered the loss, although he struck out eight batters in 5.1 innings. Prewett got the final two outs.

CHARLESTON, ARK., 21, ROLAND 0, 5 INN.

Thursday afternoon in Roland, the Tigers put away the game against the Rangers (0-3) with a 12run first inning.

In defeat, Lucas Younger doubled and Alex Brant and Avery Moya each singled for Roland’s three hits.

Brett Mouldin (0-1) suffered the loss, only able to last two-thirds of an inning. Hunter Burris went the final 4.1 innings with three strikeouts.

DEWEY 10, GORE 4

Thursday night at Oklahoma City’s Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, the Pirates scored one in the first and third innings and twice in the fourth inning for a 4-0 lead, but the Bulldoggers scored twice in the fifth inning, seven runs in the sixth inning and once in the seventh inning to get the come-from-behind victory.

In defeat, Tate Brooksher was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, while Gage Dame was 2-for-4 for Gore.

Brooksher (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season, going five innings with two strikeouts. James Brasuell got the final six outs, two of which came by strikeout.
