Long-forgotten sidewalks revealed
City crews kicked off this week’s “Spruce Up Sallisaw” with a sidewalk reveal along Wheeler Avenue, utilizing a skid steer and some good old-fashioned elbow grease to remove up to a foot of dirt and lawn that had obscured the pavement long ago.
As the process proceeds, crews will also expose some of the sidewalks along Choctaw Avenue and Chickasaw Avenue.

As the process proceeds, crews will also expose some of the sidewalks along Choctaw Avenue and Chickasaw Avenue.
Other projects for the week include using the Curbie to assist senior citizens and the disabled by picking up waste and debris, enlisting volunteers to clean up the WPA drainage project known as Rock Branch, participating in Keep Oklahoma Beautiful and capped with Saturday’s “Chunk Your Junk.”
