Lady Vikings split twinbill with SAU Tech

MALVERN, Ark. — The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings softball team split its road doubleheader with Southern Arkansas University Tech.

MALVERN, Ark. — The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings softball team split its road doubleheader with Southern Arkansas University Tech.

The Lady Vikings took the opener 14-8 but lost the nightcap 5-1.

In the opener, the Lady Vikings (5-16) broke a 1-all tie with a three-run second inning, a single run in the third inning and a two-run fourth inning for a 7-1 lead. After the Lady Rockets cut the deficit to 11-8 with a six-run sixth inning, the Lady Vikings put away the game with a three-run seventh inning.

For the contest, Jada Wallis was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and two runs batted in, Tynli McCarty was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Kirsten Berry was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Kami Autrey was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Tatum Tinsley was 2-for-5 with a double, four RBIs and a run scored, Sophia Abbott was 2-for-3 and Tessa York doubled and scored once for the Lady Vikings.

Abbott (3-5) got the win, going the first 5.1 innings with two strikeouts. Kinlee Basquez went the final 1.2 innings with a strikeout.

In the nightcap, the Lady Rockets scored twice in the first inning, once in the fourth inning and twice in the fifth inning for a 5-0 lead. CASC got its lone run in the seventh inning.

In defeat, York was 2-for-4 with a double, Tinsley was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Berry doubled for CASC.

Basquez (1-4) suffered the loss, going the first four innings. Autrey went the final two innings with a strikeout.

After playing a road doubleheader Thursday afternoon against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa, the Lady Vikings will travel to face the archrival Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers and former Vian Lady Wolverine Maisie Wells in a 1 p.m. twinbill on Tuesday.
