Vian gets home win over Haskell

The Vian Wolverines won their second straight home game to start this week off as they downed the Haskell Haymakers 8-6 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Wolverines (10-5) never trailed, scoring four runs in the first inning and once in the third inning for a 5-0 lead.

After the Haymakers cut their deficit to 5-2 in the fourth inning, the Wolverines scored three runs in their half of the frame to up their advantage to 8-2 after four innings. The Haymakers made things interesting with a four-run sixth inning but got no closer.

For the game, Draighton Fletcher was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Manny Terrill was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored, Jeremiah Marshall was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, Cash Collins doubled, scored twice and had an RBI and Drake Collins doubled with an RBI for Vian.

Kaden Fulbright (2-2) got the win, going the first five innings with two strikeouts. Chris Cheater got his first save of the season as he went the final two innings with a strikeout.

WEBBERS FALLS 5, KEOTA 5, TIE

Tuesday afternoon in Keota, the game between the Warriors (3-5-1) and the Lions (2-4-1) ended in a tie as the game was called due to darkness as two of Keota baseball field’s light towers were out. Webbers Falls coach Trent Holt said the game will not be resumed.

The Warriors took a 4-0 lead in the opening inning, before the Lions cut their deficit in half at 4-2 in the second inning.

After the Warriors upped their advantage to 5-2 in the fifth inning, the Lions tied the game with a three-run fifth inning.

Trysten Wilbourn was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while Luke Pierce doubled with two RBIs for Webbers Falls.

Brutus Robinson pitched the first inning, getting all three outs by strikeouts. Elliott Kunkel went the next two innings with a strikeout, then Ryan Cowan pitched the next three innings with a strikeout.

STIGLER 10, MULDROW 3

Tuesday evening in Muldrow, the Panthers (12-0 overall, 5-0 in District 4A-8 play) scored twice in the first inning and once in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs (3-8, 0-5) scored once in the third inning to cut their deficit to 3-1 but did not get any closer as a three-run fourth inning for Stigler put the Panthers on top 6-1 after four innings.

In defeat, Gabe Miller was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the ’Dogs.

Jonah Claborn (1-3) suffered the loss, despite striking out five batters in five innings. Hayden McKinster went the final two innings with two strikeouts.

CAMERON 11, ROLAND 1, 4 INN.

Tuesday afternoon in Cameron, the Yellowjackets (111) broke a scoreless tie with a three-run second inning. After the Rangers (0-4) cut their deficit to 3-1 in the third inning, the ’Jackets put the game into run-rule status with an eight-run third inning.

In defeat, Austin Foster was 2-for-2, while Avery Moya doubled with a run batted in for Roland, which mustered only three hits all game.

Brett Mouldin (0-2) took the loss, getting a strikeout in three innings of work.

WILBURTON 8, GORE 4

Tuesday afternoon in Wilburton, the Pirates (5-4) scored three runs in the third inning and once in the fourth inning for a 4-1 lead, only to see the Diggers (8-2) score three runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning to snatch away the win.

In defeat, Dane Gates doubled and scored once, Gage Dame doubled with a run batted in and Keeton Rowe tripled with an RBI and a run scored for Gore.

Kaiden Denton (01) suffered the loss in relief, getting two strikeouts over the final 2.1 innings of the game. McKennon McElhaney got the start and went the first 3.1 innings. Dame got the second out of the fourth inning.
