It has been quite the eightgame stretch for former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Maisie Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State Lady Mountaineers.

On Monday afternoon in Wilburton, the Lady Mountaineers swept archrival Carl Albert State College in a pair of five-inning games, winning 9-0 in the opener and 8-0 in the nightcap.

The Lady Mountaineers enjoyed a 5-1 week last week.

The Lady Mountaineers swept a home doubleheader from Southwestern Christian on March 25 in Wilburton by scores of 9-1 in five innings and 4-1, then went on the road and took two games from Northern Oklahoma College-Enid on Thursday by scores of 1-0 and 12-7.

On Saturday, the Lady Mountaineers split their road games with Rose State College as they took the opener 4-2 but lost the nightcap 5-2.

In the opener against CASC, Wells went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while going 1-for-2 with two runs scored in the nightcap. In the opening win over Southwestern Christian, Wells was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while going hitless in three atbats in the nightcap. In the opener against NOCEnid, Wells was hitless in three trips to the plate, but she broke out in the nightcap as she went 4-for-4 with her fifth and sixth home runs of the season, three RBIs and two runs scored.

In the Game 1 win over Rose State, Wells went 1-for-3, but she went hitless in three at-bats in the nightcap.

Through 36 games, Wells is hitting .400 with three doubles, three triples, six home runs, 16 RBIs, 29 runs scored and eight stolen bases.

The Lady Mountaineers (23-13) will play a 2 p.m. Thursday road doubleheader against Seminole State College, then will play a pair of home twinbills — one at 1 p.m. Saturday against NOC-Tonkawa and the other at 1 p.m. next Tuesday against Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College.
