Gore 3rd, Central 5th, Muldrow 7th at Roland Wood Bat Tournament

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

Three of the four local baseball teams that were in last weekend’s Roland Wood Bat Tournament placed by the end of Saturday’s third and final day of action.

The Gore Pirates finished third as they went through the three-day event undefeated, beating Hackett, Ark., 6-1 in Saturday afternoon’s third-place game after winning both pool-play games on Thursday — beating host Roland 4-1 after defeating Keys 5-2.

The Central Tigers came in fifth as they edged Keys 4-3 in Saturday afternoon’s fifth-place game. They split their Friday pool-play games as they ended the night with a 2-1 win over Muldrow after falling to Cameron 7-1.

The Muldrow Bulldogs came in seventh after a 3-2 victory over host Roland in Saturday’s seventh-place game. The ’Dogs fell 4-3 to Hackett in Thursday’s poolplay game before falling to Central.

The host Rangers went 0-3 in their own tournament, getting beat 11-0 by Sequoyah-Tahlequah in their first pool-play game on Thursday before losing to Gore later that evening.
