The Sallisaw High School Awards Banquet took place Wednesday night at the Sallisaw Middle School cafeteria, where both Lady Diamonds and Black Diamonds players were honored and recognized.

Second-year Sallisaw girls coach Eric Carr handed out his awards, with the Most Valuable Player Award going to Kayli Macon, the Offensive Player of the Year Award going to Hannah Palmer and the Defensive Player of the Year Award going to Emma Martin.

The Black Diamond Award went to Sydney Weedon, the Super Sub Award went to Channing Wilson and the Newcomer of the Year Award went to Katelyn Carlton.

All Lady Diamonds who made the All-NOAA Conference Basketball Team, Weedon, Palmer, Martin, Macon and Alayna Locust-Trammell, also received plaques for making the team.

The Lady Diamonds’ two seniors, Macon and Casey Brackett, were awarded robes as gifts.

All Lady Diamonds basketball players in the program were awarded Letter S Certificates of Participation.

First-year Sallisaw boys coach Zac Rogers gave out his awards, with the Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year awards going to Cooper Jackson, while Brodi Nickell was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Tae Muskrat-Flynn got the hat trick as he not only got the Newcomer of the Year Award, but he also received the Top Free Throw Shooting and Top 3-Point Shooting awards.

Cooper Cox was awarded both the Relentless Award and the Leading Rebounder Award, Cooper Carter and Jin Chang were the Co-Black Diamond Award winners, Jackson Harris got the Most Improved Player Award and senior team manager Brandon Murphy was awarded the Manager of the Year Award.

The seniors, Carter, Cox, Jackson, Chang, Murphy and Tryson Daniels, were awarded booklets which contained copies of Your TIMES stories and photographs of them during this past season.

Like their Lady Diamonds counterparts, all players who made the All-NOAA Conference Basketball Team, Carter, Cox, Nickell, Muskrat-Flynn and Jackson, each got an additional plaque in honor of them making the team.

All Black Diamonds basketball players in the program were awarded Letter S Certificates of Participation.

To end the night, Sallisaw Basketball Booster Club Secretary Heather Weedon gave all the coaches gift certificates to J&D Steak House.
