SALLISAW TOPS

Smoothies, smoothies and more smoothies

By Billie Anthony

Monday, we had 15 TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and one KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) in attendance. Cindy had the best weight loss 5.3 pounds this week and she also had the best monthly weight loss of over 13 pounds. We celebrated with her when she received a certificate, bracelet charm and a condensation coaster with encouraging message. Great job, Cindy! The Two Bit Bowl had a winner this week! Congrats, Doris! Our Lucky Lotto contest still has six more blocks to fill and our Ladder contest has Cindy ahead with one more rung to go. Phyllis won the Surprise Box, so the will be replacing a new Surprise Box for the next few weeks. Our Chapter Challenge this coming week is to “Find comfort somewhere besides in the kitchen”. Several members brought their My Plate worksheet to earn a month free dues.

We had two messages from TOPS this week. Judy Pruett, our Service Program Administrator, letting us know about the SPA Connection and then a message from TOPS Headquarters letting us know about new web site features.

We had a really fun Fun Day for our chapter today. We had 12 ladies bring blenders, a variety of frozen fruit and other ingredients to make healthy smoothies. It was fun and noisy as the blenders were blending the ingredients with ice. We had strawberry smoothies, peach smoothies, banana blueberry smoothies, baby spinach and blackberry smoothies, mixed fruit smoothies, oatmeal and fruit smoothies and a few more smoothies. Phyllis supplied us with Readi-Whip whipping cream to top off our smoothies. Virginia was the finale with a version of strawberry daiquiri (virgin). We all had fun sampling all the smoothies and writing down the recipe of our favorite flavors. Thank you to all the members that brought items for our fun day. Thank you to Donna, Virginia, DM, Phyllis, Shirley, Cindy, Annette, Barbara, Jerry, Brenda M, Lynda and myself.

We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10:00am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10:00am and the meeting starts at 11 am and ends at 12. Membership has increased to $70 a year for first time member, $60 a year for first time renewal member and $48 for second or more renewal members. For more info, please call Billie at 918/413-1383. We always look forward to meeting a new member.
