Gore finishes 3rd at Riverside Conference Tournament

STIGLER — The Gore Lady Pirates finished third in the Riverside Conference Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament on Friday, losing 7-5 to the Keota Lady Lions in the loser’s-bracket final.

STIGLER — The Gore Lady Pirates finished third in the Riverside Conference Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament on Friday, losing 7-5 to the Keota Lady Lions in the loser’s-bracket final.

The Lady Pirates opened the tournament by losing 5-4 to Webbers Falls but bounced back with a 14-2 three-inning rout of Gans, a 14-6 five-inning victory over Okay and an 11-1 fourinning rout of McCurtain to reach the loser’s-bracket finals.

The Lady Warriors went 1-2 on the day, losing twice after beating Gore — falling 6-0 to Keota and 6-4 to McCurtain.

The Lady Grizzlies went 0-2 on the day as they lost 12-3 in four innings to Keota before losing to the Lady Pirates.

LOSER’S-BRACKET FINAL

KEOTA 7, GORE 5

The Lady Lions broke a 3-all tie with a run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth to take the lead for good at 6-3.

In defeat, Hallie Brewer was 3-for-4, Emily Daily was 2-for-4 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, River Shoemake was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Peyton Curran was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Mylee Bruce doubled with an RBI for the Lady Pirates (910). Bruce (9-10) suffered the loss.

OPENING ROUND

WEBBERS FALLS 5, GORE 4

The Lady Warriors (5-13) scored twice in the seventh inning to snatch away the win from the jaws of defeat.

For the game, Bridgett Baer was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and a run batted in, Lextyn Chappell was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, Bentley Ward was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Karla Bonilla was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Gracie Sturgell doubled for Webbers Falls.

Chappell (3-8) got the win as she got two strikeouts.

In defeat, Mylee Bruce was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Kennedy Williams was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Peyton Curran doubled with an RBI for Gore.

KEOTA 12, GANS 3, 4 INN.

The Lady Lions scored five runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning for an 11-0 lead after two innings to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Gabbie Price was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Lady Grizzlies (3-12). Destiny Phillips (2-7) suffered the loss.

CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTERFINALS

KEOTA 6, WEBBERS FALLS 0

The Lady Lions scored single runs in the first and fourth innings for a 2-0 lead, then scored twice in the fifth and sixth innings to seal the deal.

In defeat, Bridgette Baer was 2-for-3, while Shkyra Scruggs was 2-for-3 with a double for Webbers Falls. Lextyn Chappell suffered the loss.

LOSER’S BRACKET OPENING ROUND

GORE 14, GANS 2, 3 INN.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, a four-run first inning and a 10-run second inning gave the Lady Pirates a 14-1 lead after two innings to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Mylee Bruce doubled with three runs batted in and a run scored, while Peyton Curran doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Gore. Bruce got the win.

In defeat, Addy Bibbs was 2-for-2, while Price tripled and scored once for Gans.

Yesenia Gaona (2-2) suffered the loss as she only went the first two-thirds of the opening inning. Phillips went the rest of the way.

LOSER’S BRACKET QUARTERFINALS

GORE 14, OKAY 6, 5 INN.

The Lady Pirates scored nine runs in the third inning to not only break a 3-all tie but put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Hallie Brewer was 2-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored, Ricki Huckbay was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, Sophie O’Connor was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Kennedy Williams was 2-for-3 with her second home run of the season, two RBIs and two runs scored, Keira Rowe was 2-for-3 with an RBI and River Shoemake tripled with three RBIs for Gore.

Bruce got the win as she recorded two strikeouts.

MCCURTAIN 6, WEBBERS FALLS 4

The Lady Bulldogs scored six runs in the first inning for a 6-0 lead, then held off a sixth-inning rally by the Lady Warriors that saw them cut the deficit to 6-4.

In defeat, Lextyn Chappell was 2-for-4, Bailey Ward was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Karla Bonilla was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Gracie Sturgell was 2-for-3 with a run batted in, Katie Frazier was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Bentley Ward doubled with an RBI for Webbers Falls.

Chappell took the loss, despite recording three strikeouts.

LOSER’S BRACKET SEMIFINALS

GORE 11, MCCURTAIN 1, 4 INN.

The Lady Pirates broke a 1-all tie with a run in the second inning, four runs in the third inning and five runs in the fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Hallie Brewer was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, River Shoemake was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and two runs scored, Mylee Bruce was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Keira Rowe was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Emily Daily doubled and scored twice for Gore. Bruce got the win.
