Gore wins Riverside Conference Tournament; Webbers Falls bows in consolation finals

The Gore Pirates went through undefeated to win the Riverside Conference Baseball Tournament as they walked it off against Porum by the score of 7-6 in Friday afternoon’s title game in Gore.

The Gore Pirates went through undefeated to win the Riverside Conference Baseball Tournament as they walked it off against Porum by the score of 7-6 in Friday afternoon’s title game in Gore.

On Thursday in Gore, the Pirates won their tournament opener 12-0 in three innings over Gans, then disposed of Keota 14-4 in four innings.

The Webbers Falls Warriors fell in the consolation finals 17-7 in four innings to Okay on Friday morning at Eual Carter Sports Complex in Webbers Falls.

On Thursday in Gore, the Warriors lost their tournament opener 24-17 to Keota, then bounced back and tamed the Grizzlies 18-0 in three innings.

The Grizzlies only played Gore and Webbers Falls on Thursday in Gore as the two losses eliminated them from the tournament.

FRIDAY’S GAMES CHAMPIONSHIP

GORE 7, PORUM 6

Kyler McGee’s one-out, RBI single walked it off for the Pirates (13-6) in the seventh inning.

For the game, James Brasuell was 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season and four runs scored, Gage Dame was 2-for-3 with a doubled a run batted in, Tate Brooksher was 2-for-4 and McGee was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Gore.

Brasuell (4-2) got the win in relief, going the final five innings with seven strikeouts. Brooksher got the start and went the first two innings with four Ks.

CONSOLATION FINALS

OKAY 17, WEBBERS FALLS 7, 4 INN.

The Warriors (9-11-1) jumped out to a 5-1 lead after an inning, but the Mustangs got three unearned runs in the second inning to cut their deficit to 5-4. After the Warriors upped their advantage to 6-4 after two innings, the Mustangs scored five runs in the third inning and eight runs in the fourth inning to take a 17-6 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Gunner Shelby was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while Elliott Kunkel hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot in the second inning, and had two RBIs for Webbers Falls.

Brutus Robinson (0-3) took the loss, going the first 2.2 innings with five strikeouts. Kunkel went the final 1.1 innings with a strikeout.

THURSDAY’S GAMES OPENING ROUND

GORE 12, GANS 0, 3 INN.

Gore pitcher Eli Munson (10) got the win as he no-hit the Grizzlies with six Ks in three innings.

A nine-run first inning was all the Pirates needed to tame the Grizzlies.

For the game, James Brasuell was 3-for-3 with two triples, Tate Brooksher was 2-for-3 with four runs batted in and two runs scored, Keeton Rowe doubled with an RBI and three runs scored and Duane Hunt homered for the first time this season, which was a firstinning grand-slam home run to highlight the nine-run first inning.

Brenden Strickland took the loss for the Grizzlies (0-8) as he only got the first out of the first inning on a strikeout. Phoenix Xiong went the final 1.2 innings.

KEOTA 24, WEBBERS FALLS 17

After the Warriors scored seven runs in the seventh inning to tie the game at 16-all to force extra innings, the Lions scored eight runs in the ninth inning to take a 24-16 lead. The Warriors scored once in their half of the ninth inning, but their rally fell well short.

In defeat, Gunner Shelby was 4-for-6 with a double, four runs batted in and two runs scored, Trysten Wilbourn was 3-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI, Clayton Roberts was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, Brutus Robinson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Luke Pierce was 2-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Gunner Shelby (1-2) took the loss in relief, pitching two innings with a strikeout. Cowan got the start and went the first three innings with four Ks. Wilbourn went the next 1.1 innings with a strikeout. Pierce got the next five outs, all by strikeout. Kunkel got the final three outs of the game.

CHAMPIONSHIP SEMIFINALS

GORE 14, KEOTA 4, 4 INN.

After falling behind the Lions 4-0 in the first inning, the Pirates erupted for seven runs in the first inning, followed by a pair of two-run innings in the second and third innings for an 11-4 lead. A three-run fourth inning put the game into runrule status.

For the contest, Gage Dame and Keeton Rowe each singled for the Pirates.

James Brasuell got the win in relief as he threw the most innings, two, with five strikeouts. McKennon McElhaney got the start and went the first inning with a strikeout. Tate Brooksher closed things out by striking out the side in the fourth inning.

CONSOLATION SEMIFINALS

WEBBERS FALLS 18, GANS 0, 3 INN.

The Warriors took control of the game early with the Grizzlies as they scored 11 runs in the opening inning and scored twice in the second inning for a 13-0 lead. A five-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Gunner Shelby was 2-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored, Luke Pierce was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored, Hayden Stephens was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Elliott Kunkel doubled with two RBIs and two runs scored for Webbers Falls.

Ryan Cowan (3-2) got the win, going the first 2.2 innings with a strikeout. Brutus Robinson got the final out by strikeout.
