Sallisaw track duo wins titles at Hilldale Invitational

Other athletes also do well

MUSKOGEE — Sallisaw High School track athletes Cooper Cox and Kayli Macon won titles at Friday’s Hilldale Invitational.

Cox won the 400-meter dash (52.33 seconds), finishing just less than a second faster than Central’s Gavin Randolph, who was runner-up with a time of 53.25. Macon took first in the long jump with a mark of 15-5.

Several other local athletes did well in Friday’s meet. Sallisaw’s Sama Salinas was second in the 3,200-meter run (10:53) and third in the 1,600-meter run (4:57), Central’s Braxin Goodson was second in the 300-meter hurdles (41.6) and fourth in the 800-meter run (2:10) and Central’s Charlie Petree was runner-up in the shot put (34-11.5) and fifth in the discus (1064).

Gore’s highest finisher was Weston Cunningham, who was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (17.04) seconds, with teammates Trenton Cunningham placing seventh (18.34) and Devon Mannon fishing eighth (18.44). Sallisaw’s Tyler File was 13th (19.64), while File’s teammate Talon Flynn was 17th (22.03).

In the 300-meter hurdles, Weston Cunningham was fourth (43.6 seconds), Mannon was seventh (45.7), File was ninth (45.95) and Trenton Cunningham was 10th (46.2).

Vian’s highest placer was Blazi Dieter, who was eighth in the 800-meter dash (2:49).

As for other local placers, Sallisaw’s Kambrey Coffman was third (2:33), Gore’s Amelia White was 10th (2:55) and Vian’s Carmen Rautenberg was 16th (3:06) in the 800-meter run.

In the boys’ discus, Sallisaw’s Cannon Martindale was fourth (121-6), Sallisaw’s Caden Blount was fifth (42-2) in the boys’ shot put and Sallisaw’s Delaney Compton was sixth (103-9) in the girls’ discus.

Sallisaw’s Sydney Weedon was fifth (18.08 seconds), Vian’s Tina Rautenberg was 14th (20.02), Central’s Alexxus Bolin was 16th (20.04), Sallisaw’s Chloe Nelson was 17th (20.82) and Vian’s Alina Mendoza was 25th (23.11) in the 100-meter hurdles.

In the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, Sallisaw’s Josie Martin was sixth (53.17 seconds), Weedon seventh (53.33), Tina Rautenberg was 11th (54.71 seconds) and Bolin was 16th (59.48).

Sallisaw’s Ava Armstrong was seventh (28.2 seconds), Vian’s Sidney Cox was 27th (29.5 seconds), Central’s Kaitlin Clark was 30th (29.55), Sallisaw’s Kylie Holt was 34th (29.99), Central’s Keeley Poindexter was 37th (30.55), Central’s Gracie Thompson was 41st (31.31), Gore’s Gracie Bruce was 43rd (32.29), Vian’s Brooke Byers was 46th (32.8) and Vian’s Kylie Covie was 50th (39 seconds flat) in the 200-meter dash.

In the girls’ 100-meter dash, Sallisaw’s Natalie Gonzalez was ninth (13.28 seconds), Sallisaw’s Emma Martin was 17th (13.71), Central’s Jhaselyn Gonzalez was 36th (14.49), Central’s Kinly Lovell was 38th (14.51), Vian’s Annie Neal was 44th (14.72), Nelson was 46th (14.94) and Bruce was 52nd (15.5).

Sallisaw’s Molli Blount was 13th (1:10.6), White was 15th (1:11). Sallisaw’s Michele Laudan was 16th (1:11.22), Clark was 17th (1:13.75) and Sallisaw’s Casey Brackett was 19th (1:14.92) in the 400-meter dash. In the 100-meter dash, Sallisaw’s Kenyan Hill was 14th (11.41 seconds), Sallisaw’s Cooper Jackson was 16th (11.5), Gore’s Cole Brooksher was 33rd (11.99), Vian’s Jacob Brannick was 36th (12.03), Mannon was 37th (12.05), Sallisaw’s Bo Brackett was 38th (12.06), Gore’s Gabe Hefley was 51st (12.53), Central’s Brycen Chandler-Eisman was 59th (13.06) and Vian’s Ricky Wolfe was 60th (13.11).

In the 400-meter dash, Vian’s Austin Wilson was 17th (58.16 seconds), Sallisaw’s Julius Lemon was 20th (58.44), Hefley was 24th (59.56), Central’s Jake Woods was 27th (59.84), Sallisaw’s Ethan Wilhite was 50th (1:06.89), Gore’s Grant Davis was 51st (1:07.25) and Vian’s Gabe Wilson was 54th (1:10.35).

Brooksher was 17th (24.11 seconds), Weston Cunningham was 18th (24.2), Sallisaw’s Sean Laudan was 23rd (24.22), Brannick was 23rd (24.49), Brackett was 32nd (25.08), Trenton Cunningham was 34th (25.18), Flynn was 44th (26.1), Wolfe was 45th (26.21), Chandler-Eisman was 49th (26.5), Hefley was 50th (26.62) and Vian’s Spencer Dick was 62nd (29 seconds flat) in the 200-meter dash.

As for relays, the Lady Diamonds’ foursome of Macon, Jazmyne Wright, Coffman and Josie Martin was second (4:29) and Central’s Paris Campbell, Gonzalez, Thompson and Cambree Bair were sixth (4:43) in the 1,600-meter relay.

The Tigers’ 1,600-meter relay team of Randolph, Goodson, Jake Woods and Noah Buzzard was runner-up (3:40).

The Lady Diamonds’ foursome of Emma Martin, Macon, Gonzalez and Armstrong was third (52.5 seconds) and Central’s team of Gonzalez, Lovell, Thompson and Clark was ninth (56.89) in the 400-meter relay.

In the girls’ 3,200-meter relay, Central’s team of Campbell, Scarlett Harrison, Ryleigh Pierce and Bair finished third (11:29), while Sallisaw’s foursome of Wright, Coffman, Blount and Gentri Lageveen was fifth (11:49).

The Black Diamonds’ quartet of Ish Patel, Dawson Glover, Jonas Reid and Salinas was fourth (9:26) in the 3,200-meter relay.

In the 800-meter relay, Sallisaw’s squad of Macon, Wright, Hannah Palmer and Armstrong was fifth (1:53.88), while Central’s team of Campbell, Clark, Poindexter and Cambree Bair was ninth (1:58.65).

The Black Diamonds’ quartet of Hill, Cox, Lemon and Jackson was fourth in the 800-meter relay (1:35.69) and seventh in the 400-meter relay (45.27 seconds). The Central Tigers’ foursome of Randolph, Goodson, Miller and Woods was 12th in the 800 relay (1:39.36).

As for the girls’ team standings, Sallisaw was fifth (54 points) and Central was ninth (24), while the Black Diamonds were fourth (50), the Tigers tied for eighth place with the host Hornets (36) and the Pirates tied for 14th (eight) in the boys’ team standings.
