ATHENS, Ga. — Former Roland Rangers pitcher Carson Wiggins saw action in last weekend’s Southeastern Conference road series against the host Georgia Bulldogs, who entered the series ranked seventh in the country.
In Sunday’s Southeastern Conference series finale at Georgia, Wiggins pitched two innings with four strikeouts. The seventh-ranked Bulldogs took two of three from the top-ranked Razorbacks, taking Saturday’s game 7-6 and Sunday’s game 7-6 in 12 innings after the Hogs took the opener 13-3 on Friday night. So far this season, Wiggins is 1-0 with a 2.25 earned-run average with 17 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched, all coming in relief. The Razorbacks (33-5 overall, 12-3 in SEC play) who defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 13-3 in a game that reached run-rule status in the eighth inning Tuesday night at Baum-Walker Stadium, will welcome Texas A&M to town for a three-game series. After Thursday night’s slated series opener, the final two games will be at 6:30 tonight and 4 p.m. Saturday.
