Sallisaw girls, Central hurdlers, Roland shot putter win titles at Checotah Invitational

CHECOTAH — The Sallisaw Lady Diamonds’ 400-meter relay team, Sallisaw 100-meter hurdler Sydney Weedon, Central 300-meter hurdler Braxin Goodson and Roland shot put thrower Dalton Crossno all won titles at the Chectoah Invitational, which took place Thursday at Ogle Field.

The Lady Diamonds’ 400-meter relay team of Emma Martin, Kayli Macon, Natalie Gonzalez and Ava Armstrong won the event with a time of 52.86 seconds. Central’s foursome of Jhaselyn Gonzalez, Kinly Lovell, Keeley Poindexter and Kaitlin Clark was seventh (56.52), while Webbers Falls’ quartet of Bridgette Baer, Audri Spears, Abbie Patterson and Kailey Mannon was 10th (59.5).

Weeden took gold in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.74 seconds. Seven other locals placed in the event as well as Central’s Alyvia Warner was seventh (18.74 seconds), Sallisaw’s Chloe Nelson was eighth (18.84), Central’s Alexxus Bolin was 11th (19.59), Vian’s Kala Gibbins was 17th (20.57), Vian’s Alina Mendoza was 27th (24.11), Vian’s Tina Rautenberg was 30th (31.07) and Vian’s Kylie Covie was 31st (33.38).

In the 300-meter hurdles, Goodson won with a time of 42.33 seconds, with Gore’s Devon Mannon finishing fifth (44.88 seconds), Gore’s Trenton Cunningham placing eighth (46.29), Gore’s Weston Cunningham finishing 10th (46.29), Sallisaw’s Tyler File placing 11th (46.46) and Roland’s Jack Johnson finishing 12th (46.77).

Crossno got the gold medal in the shot put with a winning throw of 46-8.

Sallisaw’s Sama Salinas was second in the 3,200-meter run (10:59), while the Lady Diamonds’ 800-meter relay team of Armstrong, Macon, Hannah Palmer and Jazmyne Wright was second (1:52.37).

Also in the 800-meter relay, Central’s Paris Campbell, Warner, Poindexter and Cambree Bair was fifth (1:56.17), Gore’s foursome of Amelia White, Emily Daily, Gracie Bruce and Rayleigh Moore was 11th (2:05.85) and Webbers Falls’ quartet of Baer, Spears, Hannah Kay Mason and Mannon was 12th (2:06.15).

Roland’s Molly Carver was runner-up (12:50.87) and Webbers Falls Lady Warrior Cheyanne Herrier was fourth (14:11.29) in the 3,200-meter run. Carver was fourth in the 1,600-meter run (6:04.32).

Weston Cunningham was runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.72 seconds, with Mannon placing fourth (16.85 seconds), Trenton Cunningham finishing sixth (17.92), File placing seventh (17.95), Roland’s Billy McElhaney finishing 13th (20.37), Roland’s Blake Ryder placing 17th (20.92), Webbers Falls’ Dawson Littlefield finishing 18th (21.15) and Sallisaw’s Talon Flynn placing 19th (21.41).

The Central Tigers’ mile relay team of Jake Woods, Gavin Randolph, Noah Buzzard and Goodson was second (3:39), while the same four relay legs were 11th in the 800-meter relay (1:38.15).

The highest local relay team to place in the boys’ 800-meter relay was Sallisaw’s foursome of Kenyan Hill, Cooper Cox, Julius Lemon and Cooper Jackson, which placed third with a time of 1:35.16. Roland’s team of Uriah Phillips, Trevor Lasiter, Aden Sutton and Roland’s Paul Johnson was sixth (1:36.69), while Gore’s Cole Brooksher, Trenton Cunningham, Mannon and Weston Cunningham was 12th (1:38.75).

Central’s Charlie Petree was runner-up (33-11) and Sallisaw’s Aubrey Webb was seventh (29-8) in the shot put, while Petree was seventh in the discus (91-2).

Sallisaw’s Kambrey Coffman was third (2:32) and Vian’s Blazi Dieter seventh (2:52) in the 800-meter run.

Cox was third (51.43 seconds), Randolph fifth (52.36), Roland’s Mason Kemp was 13th (57.25), Vian’s Austin Wilson was 18th (58.22), Central’s Aiden Cawhorn was 22nd (58.57), Roland’s Josh Bower was 24th (59.15), Gore’s Gabe Hefley was 28th (1:00.23), Central’s Aidan Sainer was 31st (1:01.12), Webbers’ Falls Colton Lester was 33rd (1:02.19), Sallisaw’s Ethan Wilhite was 35th (1:03.21), Vian’s Braxton Drake was 42nd (1:05.28), Gore’s Grant Davis was 43rd (1:05.58) and Gans’ Quirt Ward was 45th (1:07.56) in the 400-meter dash.

In the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, Warner was third (49.41 seconds), Sallisaw’s Josie Martin was fifth (50.75), Weedon was sixth (51.11), Tina Rautenberg was 11th (54.88), Bolin was 17th (58.07), Mannon was 22nd (59.7) and Mason was 30th (1:11).

Macon was third (26.49 seconds), Armstrong was fourth (28.02), Sallisaw’s Kylie Holt was eighth (29.19), Roland’s Adriana Moya was 10th (29.25), Palmer was 11th (29.39), Clark was 16th (29.98), Roland’s Mira Reagan was 17th (30.06), Vian’s Sidney Cox was 19th (30.08), Poindexter was 21st (30.28), Baer was 25th (30.6), Lovell was 27th (30.96), Spears was 36th (32.39), Patterson was 41st (33.49), Vian’s Brooke Byars was 43rd (33.77) and Roland’s Aita Ndoye Diene was 47th (36.55) in the 200-meter dash.

Two local girls’ 1,600-meter relay teams placed as Macon, Holt, Josie Martin and Wright was third for the Lady Black Diamonds with a time of 4:28.34, while Central’s foursome of Warner, Campbell, Gonzalez and Bair was fourth (4:32.43).

It was a similar results in the boys’ 400-meter relay as Sallisaw’s quartet of Hill, Cox, Lemon and Jackson was fourth (45.3 seconds), while Roland’s Phillips, Lasiter, Nate Criswell and Paul Johnson was fifth (45.31).

Roland’s Landon Killer was fourth in the 800-meter run (2:15), while Sallisaw’s Cannon Martindale was sixth (116-4) and Roland’s Braxton Prewett was eighth (111-4) in the discus.

Moya was fourth (1:06.33), White was 12th (1:10.2), Sallisaw’s Michelle Laudan was 13th (1:10.44), Sallisaw’s Molli Blount was 19th (1:12.24), Clark was 20th (1:13.24), Sallisaw’s Casey Brackett was 24th (1:14.4), Central’s Scarlett Harrison was 26th (1:15.62), Moore was 29th (1:16.46), Central’s Ryleigh Pierce was 31st (1:17.24), Webbers Falls’ Madison Smith was 33rd (1:17.9) and Roland’s Madi Whisenant was 34th (1:18.33) in the 400-meter dash.

In the girls’ 3,200-meter relay, Central’s Campbell, Harrison, Pierce and Bair was fifth (11:36.76), and the Sallisaw foursome of Coffman, Holt, Wright and Emma Coury was seventh (11:45.23.). The Rangers’ two-mile relay team of Kemp, Bower, Damonte Owens and Killer was sixth (9:15.76).

In the girls’ 100-meter dash, Natalie Gonzalez was fifth (13.48 seconds), Emma Martin was 10th (13.81), Moya was 12th (13.93), Baer was 13th (13.95), Reagan was 14th (14 seconds flat), Clark was 20th (14.22), Jhaselyn Gonzalez was 23rd (14.35), Daily was 24th (14.38), Nelson was 28th (14.51), Lovell was 30th (14.56), Vian’s Annie Neal was 34th (14.73), Patterson was 39th (14.88), Spears was 40th (14.91), Gore’s Sophie O’Connor was 42nd (15.08), Bruce was 49th (15.68) and Vian’s Eva Lee was 54th (16.43).

Paul Johnson was seventh (11.89 seconds), Lasiter was 11th (12.04), Brooksher was 12th (12.1), Vian’s Jacob Brannick was 15th (12.21), Sainer was 22nd (12.34), Sallisaw’s Bo Brackett was 24th (12.4), Mannon was 25th (12.42), Damonte Owens was 29th (12.55), Hefley was 30th (12.59), Sallisaw’s Sean Laudan was 33rd (12.74), Littlefield was 35th (12.79), Sallisaw’s Jackson Harris was 36th (12.82), Central’s Brycen Chandler-Eisman was 50th (13.24) and Vian’s Ricky Wolfe was 53rd (13.54) in the 100-meter dash.

In the boys’ 200-meter dash, Goodson was 10th (23.87 seconds), Laudan was 11th (24.2), Sutton was 14th (24.36), Brannick was 15th (24.52), Brackett was 17th (24.96), Hefley was 25th (25.56), Littlefield was 34th (26.3), Flynn was 38th (26.45), McElhaney was 39th (26.47), Lester was 42nd (26.63), Roland’s Daxton Owens was 44th (26.87), Chandler-Eisman was 45th (26.89), Wolfe was 52nd (27.31), Gans’ Dalton Scott was 55th (28.3) and Webbers Falls’ Cordae Shine was 66th (31.26).

In team standings on the girls’ side, the Lady Diamonds were third (79 points) behind team champion Sequoyah-Tahlequah (117 points) and Prague (80). The Lady Tigers were seventh (30), the Lady Rangers were 10th (16) and the Lady Warriors were 17th (four).

The Black Diamonds, who did not run at Vinta on Tuesday, were seventh (35 points), the Tigers were ninth (28), the Rangers were 10th (22) and the Pirates were 14th (15).
