Lady Vikings’ losing streak reaches 8 games

The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings softball team suffered a pair of home losses Tuesday afternoon as they lost twice to the Arkansas-Rich Mountain Lady Bucks by scores of 14-5 in six innings and 9-1 in five innings.

The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings softball team suffered a pair of home losses Tuesday afternoon as they lost twice to the Arkansas-Rich Mountain Lady Bucks by scores of 14-5 in six innings and 9-1 in five innings.

In the opener, after the Lady Vikings (7-32) cut their deficit to 2-1 on Kinlee Basquez’s RBI double in the second inning, the Lady Bucks scored twice in the third and fourth innings, followed by a five-run fifth inning, to take a 11-1 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Kirsten Berry was 3-for-3 with two doubles, her ninth home run, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Basquez hit an RBI double for the Lady Vikings.

Sophia Abbott (4-13) took the loss, getting a strikeout in 4.1 innings. Izzy Pack went the final 1.2 innings.

In the nightcap, the Lady Bucks jumped out to an early lead as a four-run first inning and a three-run second inning put them ahead 7-0. A two-run fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Basquez, Kyleigh Ritchie and Tessa York each singled for CASC.

Kami Autrey (2-9) suffered the loss, going just two innings in her start. Basquez went the final three innings.

The Lady Vikings will try to end an eight-game losing streak in a road doubleheader against Northern Arkansas College at 1 p.m. Saturday in Harrison, Ark., followed by a home twinbill against Western Oklahoma State College at noon Monday and a 1 p.m. Tuesday home doubleheader against National Park College.
