Muldrow suffers 2 losses to Sequoyah-Tahlequah to end season

TAHLEQUAH — The good news for the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs in Tuesday’s Class 5A District Tournament was they defeated the Locust Grove Lady Pirates 12-1 in five innings.

TAHLEQUAH — The good news for the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs in Tuesday’s Class 5A District Tournament was they defeated the Locust Grove Lady Pirates 12-1 in five innings.

The bad news was the Lady Bulldogs suffered back-to-back losses to district-tournament host Sequoyah-Tahlequah by scores of 3-2 and 2-1 to eliminate them from the playoffs.

In the win over Locust Grove, after falling behind the Lady Pirates (7-15) by a score of 1-0 in the first inning, the Lady Bulldogs scored seven runs in the first inning and five runs in the third inning for a 12-1 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Reagan Newbern was 2-for-3 with a run batted in and a run scored, Eve Keenan was 2-for-3, Keylee Thompson was 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored, Amaya Duran doubled with an RBI and a run scored, Danica Tune tripled and scored twice and Jaydin Dean hit her first home run of the season, an inside-the-park, three-run homer to highlight the five-run third inning for the Lady Bulldogs (7-12). Dean (7-12) got the win.

In the first loss to Sequoyah-Tahlequah, the Lady Indians (19-3) scored three runs in the first inning for a 3-0 lead. The Lady Bulldogs scored twice in the sixth inning on Amarie Duran’s RBI single and Newbern’s RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the Lady Bulldogs got no closer.

In defeat, Tune, Dean, Amarie Duran, Amaya Duran and Riah Keenan all singled once for Muldrow. Dean suffered the loss.

In the season-ending loss to Sequoyah-Tahlequah, the Lady Indians broke a 1-all tie with a run in the top of the seventh inning.

In defeat, Dean, Newbern, Thompson, Amarie Duran, Amaya Duran, Kaydence Young and Kynlee Thomas all singled once for Muldrow. Dean took the loss.

VIAN 12, ARKOMA/CAMERON 0, 3 INN. POCOLA 10, VIAN 0, 4 INN. POCOLA 9, VIAN 0, 5 INN.

Tuesday at the Class 3A District Tournament in Pocola, while the Lady Wolverines (7-13) won their first game, the back-to-back losses to Class 3A’s third-ranked Lady Indians (30-4) ended their season.

In the win over the Lady Mustangs (3-9), the Lady Wolverines broke a scoreless tie with a pair of six-run innings in the second and third innings for a 12-0 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Tressa Sandlin was 2-for-3 with two doubles, five runs batted in and two runs scored, Rayleigh Terrill was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Aubree Craighead doubled with a run scored and Halli Russell doubled with an RBI for Vian. Terrill (7-13) got the win.

In the first loss to Pocola, the Lady Indians, who led 1-0 after an inning, put away the game with a seven-run second inning for an 8-0 lead. A two-run fourth inning put the game into runrule status.

Pocola pitcher Lety Parga three-hit the Lady Wolverines, who got a single apiece from Brooklyn Cox, Rayleigh Terrill and Sandlin. Terrill took the loss.

In the season-ending loss to Pocola, Parga five-hit the Lady Wolverines, and the Lady Indians scored six runs in the first inning and three runs in the third inning for a 9-0 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Eden Girty was 2-for-2 with a double, while Sandlin, Russell and Cox all singled for Vian. Terrill suffered the loss.

RATTAN 11, GANS 1, 4 INN.

RATTAN 13, GANS 1, 3 INN.

Tuesday at the Class 2A District Tournament in Rattan, the sweep by the Lady Rams (28-8) not only gave them the district title and a trip to next week’s regional tournament, but ended the season for the Lady Grizzlies (4-16).

In Game 1, after the Lady Grizzlies grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady Rams scored twice in the first inning to take the lead for good at 2-1, then scored three runs in each of the next three innings to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Gabbie Price, Abigail Leach and Maddie Freeman each singled for the three Gans hits. Phillips (3-9) took the loss.

In Game 2, after the Lady Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady Rams scored seven runs in the first inning and once in the second inning for an 8-1 lead. A five-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Price, Leach, Freeman, K’Cee Osborn and Destiny Phillips each singled for Gans.

Yesenia Gaona (2-3) suffered the loss in relief, going the final 1.1 innings. Phillips was the starter and just got the first two outs of the opening inning.

QUINTON 4, WEBBERS FALLS 0

ROCK CREEK 13, WEBBERS FALLS 2, 4 INN.

Tuesday at the Class 2A District Tournament in Blue, the two losses suffered by the Lady Warriors (6-17) eliminated them from the postseason.

In the loss to Quinton, the Lady Savages (811) scored twice in the first inning, once in the second inning and once in the sixth inning.

In defeat, Bentley Ward and Gracie Sturgell were each 2-for-3 and Karla Bonilla doubled for Webbers Falls.

Lextyn Chappell (3-12) suffered the loss, despite recording two strikeouts.

In the season-ending loss to Rock Creek, the Lady Mustangs (12-12) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning. A six-run second inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Bridgette Baer was 2-for-2 with a double for Webbers Falls. Chappell took the loss.
