Former Roland pitcher suffers first collegiate loss for Hogs
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Former Roland Rangers pitcher Carson Wiggins suffered his first-ever collegiate loss for the Arkansas Razorbacks in Sunday’s Southeastern Conference series finale against the host Florida Gators. In Sunday’s 9-5 loss to the Gators, Wiggins gave up the game-winning run on a hit, but did not record an out as he suffered his first collegiate defeat.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Former Roland Rangers pitcher Carson Wiggins suffered his first-ever collegiate loss for the Arkansas Razorbacks in Sunday’s Southeastern Conference series finale against the host Florida Gators. In Sunday’s 9-5 loss to the Gators, Wiggins gave up the game-winning run on a hit, but did not record an out as he suffered his first collegiate defeat.
The Gators won two of the three games, winning Friday night’s opener 6-4 as well as Sunday’s series finale. The Razorbacks won Saturday afternoon’s game 7-0.
For the season, Wiggins is 1-1 with three saves and an earned-run average of 3.21. In 14 innings pitched, all in relief, Wiggins has recorded 20 strikeouts.
Wiggins and the fifth-ranked Razorbacks (37-9 overall, 14-7 in SEC play) had Tuesday’s road game against Missouri State on Tuesday night in Springfield, Mo., canceled due to the threat of thunderstorms. They will return home to entertain Texas at Baum-Walker Stadium, with the first game at 6 p.m. Thursday. Game 2 against the Longhorns will be at 7 p.m. Friday, with the series finale at 2 p.m. Saturday.
