Lady Vikings sweep Northern Arkansas, fall twice to Western

The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings softball team swept its road doubleheader against Northern Arkansas College by the scores of 12-9 and 12-0 in five innings on Thursday in Harrison, Ark.

The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings softball team swept its road doubleheader against Northern Arkansas College by the scores of 12-9 and 12-0 in five innings on Thursday in Harrison, Ark.

On Monday, the Lady Vikings suffered a pair of home losses to the Western Oklahoma State College Lady Pioneers by scores of 2-1 and 7-4.

In the opener against Northern Arkansas, the Lady Vikings (934) rallied from a 9-7 deficit with a five-run seventh inning to get them the come-from-behind victory.

For the game, Kinlee Basquez was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored, Tessa York was 3-for-5 with a double, four runs scored and an RBI, Jada Wallis was 3-for-4 with the game-winning RBI single hit, two RBIs and two runs scored, Kyleigh Ritchie was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs and Kenzie Lowrey hit her first home run of the season for the Lady Vikings.

Basquez (3-6) got the win in relief, going the final 2.2 innings with three strikeouts. Kami Autrey got the start and went the first three innings with a strikeout. Izzy Pack went the next 1.1 innings.

In the nightcap against Northern Arkansas, the Lady Vikings, who led 1-0 after two innings, put away the game with an 11-run fifth inning.

For the contest, Wallis was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored, Ritchie went 3-for-4 with a double, her second home run of the season, four RBIs and three runs scored, Brianna Taylor was 3-for-4, Delaynie Ross was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, York was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored and Kirsten Berry doubled with an RBI and a run scored for CASC.

Basquez got the completegame victory, going all five innings with six strikeouts.

In the opener against Western, the Lady Pioneers broke a 1-all tie with a run in the seventh inning for the win.

In defeat, York was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple for the Lady Vikings.

Pack (0-2) took the loss, going the first 6.2 innings with a strikeout. Sophia Abbott got the final out by strikeout.

In the nightcap against Western, the Lady Pioneers scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead for good at 4-1. A two-run fourth inning made it 6-2.

In defeat, Berry was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, Basquez doubled with an RBI and Ross hit her second home run of the season for CASC.

Abbott (4-14) suffered the loss, going the first 2.2 innings with four strikeouts. Autrey went the next two innings with a strikeout, then Pack went the final 2.1 innings.

After entertaining National Park College in a Tuesday doubleheader, the Lady Vikings will visit Murray State College for a road twinbill beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Johnston County Sports Complex in Tishomingo.
