Panama ends Vian’s 20-game winning streak; Gore beats Muldrow

The Vian Wolverines saw their 20game winning streak come to an end with a 10-4 loss to the Panama Razorbacks on Monday afternoon at home.

The Vian Wolverines saw their 20game winning streak come to an end with a 10-4 loss to the Panama Razorbacks on Monday afternoon at home.

The Razorbacks (23-4) broke a 4-all tie with a six-run seventh inning.

In defeat, Michael Polecat was 2-for-4, Riley Ellis was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in and Jeremiah Marshall was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored for the Wolverines (28-6).

Manny Terrill (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season, going the first 6.1 innings with three strikeouts. Polecat came in and got the final two outs.

GORE 4, MULDROW 1

Monday afternoon in Muldrow, the Pirates (17-8) rallied from a 1-0 fourth-inning deficit with a run in the fifth inning to tie the game at 1-all, then scored twice in the sixth inning and once in the seventh inning to complete the comeback victory — and spoil Senior Day for Muldrow’s lone senior, Jonah Claborn.

For the game, Kyler McGee was 3-for-4 with a run scored, Cruz Ward was 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored and Gage Dame was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for Gore.

McKennon McElhaney (4-1) got the win going the final 2.2 innings in relief with a strikeout. Tate Brooksher got the start and went two innings with four Ks, then James Brasuell went the next 2.1 innings with two strikeouts.

In defeat, Jace Prewett was 2-for-2, while Brody Israel was 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs (5-22).

Prewett (1-6) took the loss in relief, going two innings with four strikeouts. Claborn got the start and went the first four innings with six Ks. Jack Rhodes pitched the final inning.

CENTRAL 2, STILWELL 1

Monday afternoon in Stilwell, the Tigers (10-15) rallied from a 1-0 fourth-inning deficit with a run in the fifth inning as Hardy Buzzard scored on a wild pitch to knot the game at 1-all, then Central scored the game-winning run on Ryker Miller’s RBI double scoring Aidan Sainer.

For the game, Miller had the game-winning RBI double, while Sainer and Paitton Merrill each singled for Central’s three hits.

Buzzard (1-7) got his first win of the season, going all seven innings with six strikeouts.

VIAN 5, HULBERT 1

Saturday afternoon in Vian, the Wolverines fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Wolverines got their second comeback victory of last week by scoring once in the first inning to tie the game, then scoring single runs win the fourth and fifth innings and capped the come-from-behind win with a two-run sixth inning.

For the game, Cash Collins tripled with an RBI and a run scored, Jeremiah Marshall doubled with an RBI and a run scored and Draighton Fletcher singled and scored once for Vian.

Chris Cheater (6-0) got the win in relief, going the final 6.2 innings with six strikeouts. Kaden Fulbright got the start but only lasted two-thirds of an inning.

VIAN 5, WILBURTON 2

Friday afternoon in Wilburton, after the Diggers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, the Wolverines took the lead for good with a threerun third inning for a 3-1 lead. After the Diggers cut their deficit to 3-2 after four innings, the Wolverines scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to get the win.

For the game, Michael Polecat was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored, while Cash Collins singled for the only hits for Vian.

Riley Ellis (5-0) got the win, going the first four innings with seven strikeouts. Chris Cheater got his second save of the season, going the final three innings with three Ks. The duo combined to one-hit the Diggers.

VIAN 4, CAMERON 1

Thursday afternoon in Vian, the Wolverines jumped out to a 3-0 lead. After the Yellowjackets cut their deficit to 3-1 after two innings, the Wolverines got that run back in the sixth inning.

For the game, Michael Polecat was 2-for-4, Cash Collins was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Drake Collins was 2-for-3 for Vian.

Polecat (7-2) got the complete-game victory, striking out three batters in seven innings and throwing a three-hitter.

POTEAU 14, ROLAND 1, 4 INN.

Friday afternoon in Roland, the Pirates took a 5-0 lead in the first inning, which became a 10-1 advantage after two innings. A four-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

Poteau pitcher Caden Mitchell threw a fourinning two hitter with 10 strikeouts as Avery Moya and Alex Brant each singled for the only hits for the Rangers (3-19).

Brett Mouldin (0-5) took the loss as he just lasted an inning with two strikeouts. Moya went the final three innings with three Ks.

POCOLA 8, ROLAND 3

Thursday afternoon in Roland, the Indians spoiled the first game on the new turf at Roland’s baseball field.

After the Rangers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Indians scored five runs in the second inning for a 5-1 lead. Pocola added a run in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh inning to up its advantage to 8-1.

The Rangers scored twice in their half of the seventh inning, but their rally came up short.

In defeat, Avery Moya was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Alex Brant was 2-for-2 with two runs batted in for Roland.

Hunter Burris (1-4) took the loss, going the first 6.2 innings with four strikeouts. Moya got the final out.
