Vikings takes 3 of 4 games from NOC-Enid

On April 22 at Mark Pollard Park at Ival Goodman Field, the Vikings took both games from the Jets, winning 9-6 and 7-4.

On Thursday at Enid’s David Allen Memorial Ballpark, the two teams split the twinbill, with the Vikings taking the nightcap 14-7 after losing the opener 6-1.

In the opener on April 22, the Vikings rallied from a 1-0 second-inning deficit with a four-run second inning and a tworun third inning to take the lead for good at 6-1 after three innings.

For the game, Rayian Torres was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and a run scored, Royce Florenzano was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Connor Cox was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Blake Vanderburg was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Tucker Wooten doubled with an RBI and a run scored for the Vikings (33-17).

Gage Elliott (9-1) got the win, going six innings with three strikeouts. Seth Hubbard pitched the final inning with a strikeout.

In the nightcap on April 22, the Vikings broke a 1-all tie with a six-run fifth inning, then held off a ninth-inning rally in which the Jets scored three runs.

For the game, Cox was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Florenzano was 2-for-5 with a run scored and Jett Frazier tripled with three RBIs and a run scored for CASC.

Madden Dillard (2-1) got the win, going the first eight innings with eight strikeouts. Hubbard got his first save of the season as he put a stop to NOC-Enid’s ninth-inning rally with a strikeout.

In Saturday’s nightcap road win over NOC-Enid, the Vikings broke a scoreless deadlock with a single run in the second inning and a pair of three-run innings in the third and fourth innings for a 7-0 lead, which became a 12-1 advantage in the sixth inning.

For the game, Florenzano was 3-for-6 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored and Dominic Ornales was 3-for-6 with a double, his fourth and fifth homers of the season and eight RBIs.

Cox was 3-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI and Torres was 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Vikings.

Jaxon Spangler (3-3) got the win, going the first six innings with four strikeouts. After Hubbard got the first two outs of the seventh inning, Dillard went the final 2.1 innings with a strikeout.

In Saturday’s road loss to NOC-Enid, the Vikings were five-hit by NOC-Enid pitching.

The Jets tied the game at 1-all in the fifth inning, then won it with a five-run sixth inning.

In defeat, Ornelas was 2-for-3, while Cox, Frazier and Brooks Herrera each singled for CASC.

Chase Stevens (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season, going the first 5.1 innings with two strikeouts. A.J. Streater got the last two outs of the sixth inning.

After the Vikings played their archrivals, former Vian Wolverine Dakota Briggs and the Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers, on Tuesday night in Wilburton, they will travel for a for a 1 p.m. Thursday doubleheader against Arkansas-Rich Mountain in Mena, Ark.
