When the Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers and the Connors State College Cowboys met in the last weekend of March, both respective team’s pitcher from Vian, Dakota Briggs for Eastern and Diego Ramos for Connors State, ended up playing in the same game.
That did not happen this past weekend when the Mountaineers and the Cowboys got together.
In Saturday’s 6-3 win by Eastern in the opener in Wilburton, Ramos (6-3) took the loss, pitching only two innings with a strikeout.
It wasn’t until Saturday’s nightcap that Briggs saw action as he got the first out of the third inning. The Cowboys prevailed in Game 2 by the score of 18-14.
The first game of the series was won by the Mountaineers, winning 6-4 on Thursday in Warner.
For the season, Briggs is 0-1 with a 9.90 earned-run average and six strikeouts.
The Mountaineers will begin the NJCAA Division I Region II Tournament with a 3:30 p.m. Thursday match-up against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
