Local teams suffer season-ending losses in regionals

SHAWNEE — The 2025 baseball season came to an end for the Muldrow Bulldogs on Saturday at the Class 4A Regional Tournament at North Rock Creek High School.

SHAWNEE — The 2025 baseball season came to an end for the Muldrow Bulldogs on Saturday at the Class 4A Regional Tournament at North Rock Creek High School.

The Bulldogs lost to the regional-host Cougars 10-0 in five innings, then fell 12-2 in five innings to the Miami Wardogs.

In the regional-tournament loss to North Rock Creek, the Bulldogs (5-24) were no-hit.

The Cougars scored twice in the first inning, seven runs in the third inning and once in the fourth inning for a 10-0 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

Brody Israel (1-3) took the loss, going the first 2.1 innings. Wyatt Prewett went the final 1.2 innings with a strikeout.

In the season-ending loss to Miami, the Wardogs scored three runs in the first inning, once in the second inning, twice in the third inning and six runs in the fourth inning for a 12-0 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

The ’Dogs scored twice in the fourth inning to cut their deficit to 12-2 but got no closer.

In defeat, Hayden McKinster was 2-for-2 with a run batted in and a run scored for Muldrow.

Claborn (2-7) suffered the loss in his final appearance for the Bulldogs, despite fanning seven batters in 3.2 innings pitched. Jace Prewett went the final 1.1 innings with a strikeout.

Of Miami’s 12 runs, only five of them were earned as the other seven runs were due to Muldrow’s four errors.

VALLIANT 8, ROLAND 1

SEQUOYAH-CLAREMORE 9, ROLAND 6, 10 INN.

At the Class 3A Regional Tournament on Thursday in Valliant, the 2025 baseball season came to a close for the Rangers (3-22).

In the loss to Valliant, the Rangers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Alex Brant’s RBI grounder, scoring Cason Perryman.

However, from there, it was all Bulldogs as they took the lead for good with a two-run first inning, then added six runs in the fifth inning.

In defeat, Brant was 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in for Roland.

Brant (1-3) suffered the loss, getting three strikeouts in six innings.

In the season-ending loss to Sequoyah-Claremore, after the Rangers tied the game at 6-all in the seventh inning to force extra innings, the Eagles scored three runs in the 10th inning to get the win.

In defeat, Channing McKinney was 2-for-6 with a double, Derrick Allen was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored and Colton Peters doubled with two RBIs and a run scored for Roland.

Hunter Burris (1-5) suffered the loss in relief, going the final 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. Peters got the start and went the first 5.1 innings with five Ks.

SUMMIT CHRISTIAN 8, GORE 4

HOMINY 11, GORE 7

At the Class A-I Regional Tournament on Thursday in Ripley, the Pirates (17-10) saw their 2025 baseball season end.

In the loss to Summit Christian, the Eagles rallied from a 2-0 first-inning deficit with a two-run second inning and a three-run third inning to take the lead for good at 5-2. After the Pirates scored once in the fourth inning to cut their deficit to 5-3 after four innings, the Eagles put away the game with a three-run sixth inning to take an 8-3 lead.

In defeat, Gage Dame was 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored for Gore.

Tate Brooksher (3-5) suffered the loss, despite getting eight strikeouts in six innings. James Brasuell went the final two innings with two strikeouts.

In the season-ending loss to Hominy, the Bucks rallied from a 7-4 fourth-inning deficit with a six-run sixth inning and a run in the seventh inning to get the come-from-behind victory.

In defeat, Dame and Duane Hunt each singled for the only hits for Gore.

McKennon McElhaney (4-2) suffered the loss in relief, going two innings with two strikeouts. Brasuell started and went 3.1 innings with eight Ks. Kyler McGee followed McElhaney to the mound and got a strikeout, then Eli Munson went the final 1.1 innings with a strikeout.

WEBBERS FALLS 8, KEOTA 4

UNION CITY 10, WEBBERS FALLS 0, 4 INN.

UNION CITY 12, WEBBERS FALLS 1, 4 INN.

At the Class A-II Regional Tournament in Stonewall, the 2025 baseball season ended for the Warriors (13-16-1).

The good news was the Warriors got a regional victory, doubling up the Lions in Thursday night’s elimination game.

However, the not-so-good news was the Tigers got a pair of run-rule wins over the Warriors on Thursday and Saturday afternoons.

In the win over Keota, the Warriors, who rallied from a 4-3 deficit, tied the game at 4-all in the fifth inning, then won the game with a four-run sixth inning.

For the contest, Brutus Robinson was 2-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored, Gunner Shelby was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI and Trysten Wilbourn was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI for Webbers Falls.

Robinson (4-4) got the win, getting five strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Luke Pierce got the final out.

In Thursday’s loss to Union City, the Tigers got a two-hitter from Andrew Dennis, who fanned seven Warriors in four innings.

The Tigers got all the run support Dennis needed with a pair of three-run innings in the first and second innings for a 6-0 lead. A pair of two-run innings in the next two innings put the game into run-rule status.

Robinson and Wilbourn each singled for the only hits for Webbers Falls.

Robinson suffered the loss, being knocked out of the game with only one out in the first inning, which he got on a strikeout. Shelby went the next three innings with two strikeouts, then Elliott Kunkel got the final out.

In the season-ending loss to Union City, the Tigers broke a 1-all tie with a six-run second inning and a five-run third inning for a 12-1 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

Robinson singled and scored the lone run for Webbers Falls.

Pierce (2-2) took the loss, going the first two innings. Ryan Cowan pitched the third inning.

VIAN 13, HASKELL 5, 6 INN.

Monday afternoon in Haskell, the Wolverines (29-6), who had Thursday’s road game at Howe rained out, bounced back from seeing their 20game winning streak snapped just seven days before.

The Wolverines broke a 5-all tie with a threerun fifth inning and a five-run sixth inning for a 13-5 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Draighton Fletcher was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Michael Polecat was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and a run scored, Manny Terrill was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, Jeremiah Marshall was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Chris Cheater was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs for Vian.

Cheater (6-0) got the win in relief, pitching the fourth inning. Polecat got the start and struck out three batters in the first inning. After Riley Ellis got a strikeout in his lone inning of work in the second inning, Terrill pitched the third inning. Kaden Fulbright pitched the fifth inning with a strikeout and Marshall pitched the sixth inning with a strikeout.

EDITOR’S NOTE: There was nothing reported on Central’s game at Panama on Monday afternoon.
