Roland runner claims 1,600-meter run regional title; other Rangers qualify for Class 3A State Track Meet
ATOKA — Roland Lady Rangers longdistance runner Molly Carver claimed the regional title in the 1,600-meter run at Saturday’s Class 3A Regional Meet at Phillips Field. Carver won the event in a winning time of 5:41.43, while she was fourth in the 3,200-meter run (12:41.49) and was 13th in the 800-meter run (2:45.88). Carver found out Monday that she grabbed one of the atlarge bids for this weekend’s state meet in the 3,200-meter run to give her two events in which she will have a shot at a state title.

Carver won’t be the only Roland track athlete running at the Class 3A State Meet, which will take place Friday and Saturday at Plainview Stadium at Plainview High School, located on the far west side of Ardmore. Two other Rangers also automatically qualified for state. On the boys side, Dalton Crossno was third in the shot put (46-0), while Paul Johnson was third in the long jump (21-9.75). Uriah Phillips grabbed an at-large bid to state as he was fourth in the long jump (21-0).
However, there were other Rangers and Lady Rangers who were hoping to get at-large bids to state, but they just missed out.
On the boys’ side, Landon Killer was fourth in the 800-meter run (2:12.26), fifth in the 3,200-meter run (11:00.36) and sixth in the 1,600-meter run (4:54.87), while Johnson was seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.6 seconds), The Rangers’ 800-meter relay team of Phillips, Trevor Lasiter, Aden Sutton and Johnson was sixth (1:35.82), while the other two Roland relay teams were seventh as 400-meter relay team of Phillips, Lasiter, Nate Criswell and Johnson was seventh (45.94 seconds) and the 3,200-meter relay team of Mason Kemp, Josh Bower, Phillips and Killer (9:36.39).
On the girls’ side, Mira Reagan was fifth in the long jump (15-4.75).
As for other Rangers’ results, Braxton Prewett was eighth in the discus (112-5), Lasiter was ninth in the 100-meter dash (11.68 seconds), Coby Campbell was 11th in the shot put (387), Billy McElhaney was 12th in the 110-meter hurdles (20.64), Hunter Lowe was 12th in the 3,200-meter run (13:25.37) and 20th in the 1,600-meter run (6:03.06) and Bower was 15th (58.71) and Kemp 16th (58.87) in the 400-meter dash.
As for other Lady Rangers’ results, Reagan was 10th (13.8 seconds) and Adriana Moya was 11th (13.84) in the 100-meter dash, Moya was 12th (28.51) and Aita Ndoye Diene was 32nd (35.56) in the 200-meter dash, Moya was 12th (1:06.45), Madi Whisenant was 22nd (1:17.66) and Anistyn Howard was 24th (1:19.99) in the 400-meter dash, Cadence Cole was 16th (6:51.9) and Abby Bower was 20th (7:42.82) in the 1,600-meter run and Howard was 18th (3:15.99) and Bower was 19th (3:17.05) in the 800-meter run, In the point standings, the Rangers were ninth with 25 points, while the Lady Rangers tied the Silo Lady Rebels for 10th with 16 points.
