Webbers Falls competes at Class A Regional Meet

No one earned automatic bids to this weekend’s Class A State Meet, which will be Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma City Western Heights High School, but several individuals and relay teams were waiting to see Monday afternoon if they had earned at-large bids to state for having good enough fourth- through seventh-place finishes.

At press time, two individuals, Thadan Yandell and Cheyenne Herrier were possible at-large state bid athletes.

Yandell was fourth in the shot put (41-3), while Herrier was fourth in the 3,200-meter run (13:51.38).

There were other Lady Warriors and Warriors who were hoping to get at-large bids.

For the Lady Warriors, Bridgette Baer was fourth in the 200-meter dash (29.59 seconds) and sixth in the 100-meter dash (13.95), Herrier was seventh in the 1,600-meter run (6:40.59) and Abbie Patterson was fourth in the high jump (4-4).

On the boys’ side, Colton Lester was fifth in the 400-meter dash (58.54 seconds).

The Lady Warriors were waiting to see if any of their relays made the cut.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Herrier, Hannah Kay Mason, Madison Smith and Patterson was fifth (13:16.03). Baer, Audri Spears, Mason and Kailey Mannon were sixth in the 800-meter relay (2:05.72), while the other two relays were seventh — Baer, Spears, Patterson and Mannon in the 400-meter relay (58.58 seconds) and Mannon, Mason, Smith and Herrier in the 1,600-meter relay (5:11.09).

As for other Warriors’ results, Chevy Cole was ninth (33-4) and Chandler Cramer was 16th (29-1) in the shot put, Cole was ninth in the discus (774), Joseph Moore was 15th in the 1,600-meter run (7:01.72) and 20th in the 800-meter run (2:47.21), while Lester was 18th in the 200-meter dash (27 seconds flat).

As for other Lady Warriors’ results, Peyton Shanks was ninth (18:22.59) and River Qualls was 10th (20:32.11) in the 3,200-meter run, Mannon was 12th in the 300-meter hurdles (1:03.25), Mason was 19th (31.8 seconds) and Spears was 21st (32.3) in the 200-meter dash, Smith was 17th (1:17.8) and Patterson was 21st (1:24.13) in the 400-meter dash, Peyton Shanks was 18th (3:30.47) and Qualls was 19th (3:50.61) in the 800-meter run, Spears was 24th (15.63 seconds) and Smith was 26th (16.91) in the 100-meter dash, Hailey Shanks was 25th in the discus (40-2) and 28th in the shot put (17-11).

In team standings, the Lady Warriors were ninth with 19 points, while the Warriors tied Verden for 11th place with six points.
