Sallisaw track athletes honored at awards banquet

The 2025 Sallisaw High School track season had its finale event as several athletes were honored at the awards banquet, which took place Tuesday night at the Sallisaw Middle School cafeteria.

For the Lady Diamonds, Kayli Macon was the high point female athlete as well as having Sallisaw coach Richard Pratt tell her in front of the crowd in attendance that she was one of several Oklahoma Cross Country and Track Coaches Association (OCCTCA) state track athletes who were named as All-Stars in Class 4A. Pratt said Macon, who also was named a Class 4A All-Star by Class on the 2025 Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Basketball Team which makes her a possibility to be called up to the Large East team for the 2025 OCA Girls All-State Basketball Game at 7:30 p.m. July 29 at Tulsa Memorial High School’s Memorial Veterans Arena, will receive a red and yellow jackets for her OCCTCA honor.

The Diamond Dedication Award went to Jazmyne Wright, while Emma Martin received the Female Competitor Award.

Josie Martin, Natalie Gonzalez and Kambrey Coffman were the Tri-Newcomers of the Year, while Coffman also was the female high point distance runner.

Three Lady Diamonds, Kylie Holt, Sydney Weedon and Hannah Palmer, each received the Junior Letterman Award.

Ava Armstrong got the Most Improved Lady Diamonds Track Athlete Award, Delaney Compton was the high point thrower for the Lady Diamonds and Casey Brackett got the Lady Diamonds Model Athlete of the Year Award.

For the Diamonds, Julius Lemon, Ish Patel, Caden Blount and Dawson Glover all got Junior Letterman Awards.

Lemon and Cooper Jackson were the Co-Newcomers of the Year, Patel and Glover were the Co-Male Competitor Award winners, Kenyan Hill got the Black Diamonds Model Athlete of the Year Award and Sean Laudan was the Most Improved Black Diamonds Track Athlete Award winner.

As for high point winners for the Black Diamonds, Blount was the high point thrower, Cooper Cox was the high point male athlete and Sama Salinas was the high point distance runner.

The first awards to be handed out were giving out the Letter S Certificates to the members of both the Lady Diamonds and Black Diamonds for participating in track this spring.

Prior to the start of the banquet, Pratt and his assistant track coaches, Kristen Fulolbright, Brandon Richardson and Jacob Germany, each received gift certificates from Wild Horse Barbecue, compliments of the track parents — who had Heather Weedon hand out the certificates — to show their appreciation for coaching the Lady Diamonds and Black Diamonds.
