Sallisaw players, coaches participating in Saturday’s All-State Matches in Bristow

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

Three Sallisaw soccer players and the entire Black Diamonds coaching staff will get one more set of high school matches for the 2025 season.

Sallisaw Lady Diamonds player Kyra Taylor, the Sallisaw Black Diamonds duo of Brian Castor and Wyatt Allen and the Black Diamonds coaching staff of Sinue Rodriguez, Kiah Smith and Andrew Miller will be a part of the 2025 All-State Matches on Saturday in Bristow.

Taylor and her East squad teammates will face the West All-State Team at 11 a.m., followed by Castor and Allen, who will be on the East All-State Team, facing off against the West at 1 p.m.

Rodriguez was named the East All-State Team’s coach, which made it possible for his two assistant coaches — Smith and Miller — to be on the East team’s coaching staff.

The Black Diamonds went 10-3 and 5-2 in District 4A-4 play this past season, which included making the Class 4A playoffs for the first time in the fouryear history of the program — where they lost 5-4 in overtime to Skiatook.

The Lady Diamonds went 5-7 overall and 1-6 in district play this past spring.
