Sallisaw trainers receive honors from TCU Trainers Camp

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

Two of the four Sallisaw Black Diamonds football trainers received honors from the 2024 Texas Christian University Trainers Camp, which took place Nov. 9 at TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.

Kamryn Mayfield shared the winning T-shirt design contest with her design that says, “Tape, Wrap, Repeat” which also had a drawing of tape, a pair of scissors and a water bottle in which it’s written “2025.” A second Sallisaw football trainer, Addy Orendorff, won the “Mustang Speed” taping contest.

Soon-to-be sophomore Mayfield, soon-to-be senior Orendorff, senior graduate Kasey Adame and soon-to-be sophomore Sadie Tyler attended the 2024 TCU Trainers Camp during the day of the Horned Frogs’ home Big 12 game with Oklahoma State to get hands-on trainer training during a college football Saturday after they went to the TCU athletic trainer summer workshop last summer. They got to help tape ankles and do other trainers’ duties alongside the TCU training staff and other such participants from the 2023 summer workshop. Then, about an hour before kickoff, they got to be on the field assisting during pre-game warm-ups.
