Vian Wolverine, Central football trio play in Native American All-State Game
EL RENO — Vian Wolverines senior Nathen Cheater and three Central Tigers senior football players got to play in one more high school game as Dillon Miller, Cole Holcomb and Xhaiden Mosby represented the Tigers on the East All-State Team in the 2025 Native American All-State Football Game, which took place June 6. The East edged the West 7-6.
Cheater was the Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year along with teammate Peyton Johnson on the All-District 2AII-4 Football Team. Cheater, whose Wolverines went 13-1, 10-0 in the regular season, and reached the Class 2AII state championship, where they lost 28-18 to Davis on Dec. 7 at the University of Oklahoma’s Chad Richison Stadium in Edmond.
Cheater, along with Jacob Brannick, signed letters of intent with Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan., in a signing ceremony on Feb. 26 at B.J. Traw Gymnasium. Cheater also played in the 2025 Native American All-Star Game on Jan. 7 at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
Central football coach Jeremy Thompson said Miller led the East in tackles. “All three boys played really good,” Thompson said. Mosby was a replacement for Aidan Sainer, who was one of the originally selected Central players with Miller and Holcomb to be on the East All-State Team, but Sainer, who signed in February with Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., was unable to play in the contest.
Miller was named the Linebacker of the Year and Sainer was named the Defensive Back of the Year on the All-District AII-3 Football Team. Holcomb and Mosby were named to the first team all-district.
The Tigers were 7-4 last year and made the Class A-II football playoff, losing their opening-round game 4415 to Hominy.
NATIVE AMERICAN ALL-STATE BASEBALL GAME RAINED OUT
Saturday night’s Native American All-State Baseball Game, which was to take place at Okmulgee’s Bateman Field and feature Muldrow Bulldogs senior Jonah Claborn on the East Team, which was to be coached by former Muldrow coach John Rozell, was rained out and will not be rescheduled.
