Pirates track trio qualifies for national meet
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Three Gore Pirates track athletes, Weston Cunningham, Trenton Cunningham and Devon Mannon, participated in the United States Region 9 Junior Olympic Track Meet last weekend, in which all three did well enough to qualify for next week’s U.S. National Junior Olympic Championships, which will take place in Savannah, Ga.
At last weekend’s Region 9 Meet, Weston Cunningham was second in the 110-meter hurdles and fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in the age 15-16 age division, Trenton Cunningham was third in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in the age 15-16 division and Mannon was third in the 400-meter hurdles and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in the age 17-18 division.
All three Pirates qualified last May for the Class 2A State Meet, which took place at Oklahoma City’s Western Heights High School.
At the state meet, Mannon was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (41.63 seconds), while Weston Cunningham was seventh (15.8) and Trenton Cunningham was 15th (17.14) in the 110-meter hurdles.
