Search continues for suspect in Sunday shooting in Sallisaw
Sallisaw police, in coordination with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, are looking for a man who was involved in a physical altercation involving a firearm on Sunday. Authorities say the man should be considered armed and dangerous.
The altercation, in which a person was shot, occurred at 706 N. Maple in Sallisaw.
Police have identified the suspect in the shooting as Todd Smith, 63, who is wanted on multiple charges, including:
• Feloniously pointing a firearm
• Assault and battery with a deadly weapon
• Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
After responding to the shooting shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday, Sallisaw police and OHP troopers executed a search warrant at Smith’s residence near Redwood and Hickory streets. Smith was not at home, and investigators are actively processing the scene.
Authorities urge the public not to approach Smith, and that if Smith is seen or someone knows of his whereabouts, you are asked to call Sallisaw police at 775-4141.
The victim in the shooting was treated and released from the hospital.
