Muldrow splits road district games with Idabel, Broken Bow

IDABEL — The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs opened the season Monday afternoon by splitting a pair of games in the road District 4A-6 three-way with the host Idabel Lady Warriors and the Broken Bow Lady Savages.

The Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Warriors 13-2 but lost 10-2 to the Lady Savages.

In the win over Idabel, the Lady Bulldogs (1-1 overall, 1-1 in district play) rallied from a 2-0 first-inning deficit with a two-run second inning, a pair of single runs in the third and fourth innings, a four-run fifth inning and a seven-run seventh inning to get the comefrom behind win.

For the game, Raegan Newbern was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Amarie Duran was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a run batted in, Haven Nickson was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Aliyah Duran was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Muldrow.

Kaydence Young (10) got the win, striking out eight batters and scattering six hits.

In the loss to Broken Bow, the Lady Savages scored four runs in the first inning and twice in the second inning for a 6-0 lead. The Lady Bulldogs scored once in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 6-1, only to see the Lady Savages come back in their half of the fourth inning with three runs to put away the game.

In defeat, Young doubled, Newbern and Aliyah Duran each singled with an RBI and Jaydin Dean and Kesslyn Pratt each singled for Muldrow.

Dean (0-1) took the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in six innings.

VIAN 23, SPIRO 13, 5 INN.

Monday evening in Spiro, the Lady Wolverines (1-0) got the Jaykob Taylor era off on the right set of paws with the road victory in the season opener.

The Lady Wolverines broke a 1-all tie with a run in the second inning and seven runs in the third inning for a 9-1 lead. After the Lady Bulldogs (0-1) cut the deficit to 9-3 after three innings, the Lady Wolverines responded with a two-run fourth inning for an 11-3 lead. A 12-run fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Leila Cheater was 4-for-4 with a double, five runs scored and three runs batted in, LaKoeta Cheater was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, Sidney Cox was 4-for-5 with a triple, six RBIs and two runs scored, Halli Russell was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, Rayleigh Terrill was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, Scarlett Fields was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Jordyn Cowett tripled with three runs scored and an RBI for Vian.

Cassidee Postoak (1-0) got the win, getting two strikeouts in five innings.

GORE 4, KEYS 1

Monday evening in Park Hill, the sister coaching act of Kera Carter and Kendra Reasnor got started in fine fashion with the road win to open the season for the Lady Pirates (1-0).

The Lady Pirates scored once in the first inning and three runs in the second inning for a 4-0 lead.

For the game, Emily Daily was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored, River Shoemake was 2-for-4 and Alevia Reasnor doubled with two runs batted in and a run scored for Gore.

Reasnor (1-0) got the victory, fanning nine batters and scattering six hits.

WARNER 9, CENTRAL 2

Monday evening at Central High School, the Lady Tigers (0-1) lost their season opener.

After the Lady Tigers cut their deficit to 2-1 after an inning, the Lady Eagles (1-0) scored twice in the second inning, once in the third inning and four runs in the fifth inning for a 9-1 lead.

In defeat, Charlie Petree doubled, Alyvia Warner singled and scored once and Keeley Poindexter singled for Central.

Brenleigh Allen (0-1) suffered the loss, despite recording three strikeouts in five innings.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Roland’s games Monday afternoon in the Sequoyah-Tahlequah Festival did not take place because the festival could not find enough teams. The Lady Rangers were slated to begin their season Tuesday afternoon at Spiro.
