Gore beats Vian; Lady Wolverines rout Hulbert
The Gore Lady Pirates picked up a 5-2 road win over their Sequoyah County rivals, the Vian Lady Wolverines, on Monday afternoon at Armstrong Park.
The afternoon was not a total downer for the Lady Wolverines as they routed the visiting Hulbert Lady Riders 14-4 in four innings.
In Gore’s win over Vian, the Lady Pirates (2-1) took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, but the Lady Wolverines (5-4) cut their deficit to 3-2 after four innings but got no closer.
For the game, Sophie O’Connor was 2-for-4 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, Jemma Peevy was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Kennedy Williams doubled and Emily Daily tripled with an RBI for Gore.
Alevia Reasnor (2-0) got the completegame victory as she struck out seven batters.
In defeat, Tinley Gibson was 2-for-2 with a run scored, while Jordyn Cowett was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Vian. Cassidee Postoak (5-4) suffered the loss, despite fanning seven batters in seven innings.
In Vian’s win over Hulbert, the Lady Wolverines broke a 1-all tie with a sixrun second inning for a 7-1 lead after two innings.
For the game, Leila Cheater was 4-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBIs, Halli Russell was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored, LaKoeta Cheater was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Postoak was 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI, Rayleigh Terrill was 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored, Scarlett Fields was 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored and Sidney Cox was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Vian.
Postoak got the win, getting four Ks in four innings.
MCCURTAIN 12, WEBBERS FALLS 1, 4 INN.
Monday afternoon at Eual Carter Sports Complex, McCurtain pitcher Abby Bales threw a one-hitter with eight strikeouts.
The Lady Bulldogs scored once in the first inning, but they put away the game with a 10-run third inning for an 11-0 lead.
In defeat, Katie Frazier’s single was the lone hit for the Lady Warriors (0-4). Rhilee Jones suffered the loss, despite recording three strikeouts in four innings.
POTEAU 11, MULDROW 1, 5 INN.
Monday afternoon in Poteau, an eightrun fifth inning by the Lady Pirates put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Amaya Duran hit her first home run of the season in the first inning to give the Lady Bulldogs (4-3 overall, 2-2 in District 4A-6 play) a 1-0 lead. Haven Nickson’s single was Muldrow’s other hit.
Jaydin Dean (3-3) suffered the loss, despite two strikeouts in 4.1 innings.
WESTVILLE 10, ROLAND 0, 6 INN.
Monday in Westville, Westville pitcher Jenna Williams threw a six-inning threehitter with seven strikeouts.
The Lady Yellowjackets jumped out to a 3-0 lead after an inning, and a four-run sixth inning put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Kyleigh Knapp doubled, while Adriana Moya and Karsyn Serjeant each singled for the Lady Rangers (3-3 overall, 1-1 in District 3A-6 play). McKinna Cooper (3-3) took the loss.
LEFLORE 9, GANS 2
BATTIEST 9, GANS 0, 3 INN.
Monday afternoon in Leflore, the Lady Grizzlies (0-4) lost both games of Monday’s road three-way.
In the loss to Leflore, the Lady Savages, who trailed 1-0 in the first inning, scored twice in the first inning and three runs in the third inning to take a 5-1 lead.
In defeat, Abigail Leach’s single was the lone hit for Gans.
Leach (0-4) suffered the loss, despite striking out six batters in three innings. Nora Barnea got the final two outs.
In the loss to Battiest, the Lady Grizzlies were one-hit, with that hit being Valan Harper’s single.
The Lady Panthers scored three runs in the first inning, twice in the second inning and four runs in the third inning to put the game into run-rule status.
Leach took the loss, despite getting six Ks in 2.2 innings.
PANAMA 8, ROLAND 2
Thursday in Roland, the Lady Razorbacks spoiled the Lady Rangers’ home opener.
The Lady Razorbacks rallied from a 2-1 deficit with a seven-run fifth inning.
In defeat, Paisley Davis doubled, while Adriana Moya and Addyson Clark singled for Roland. McKinna Cooper took the loss, getting two strikeouts in seven innings.
POCOLA 10, VIAN 2, 5 INN.
Thursday at Pocola, the Lady Indians scored three runs in the first inning and twice in the third inning for a 5-0 lead. The Lady Wolverines cut their deficit to 5-2 in the fourth inning, but the Lady Indians put the game into run-rule status with a four-run fourth inning and a single run in the fifth inning.
In defeat, Leila Cheater went 2-for-2, while Eden Girty, Halli Russell, Scarlett Fields and LaKoeta Cheater each singled for Vian.
Cassidee Postoak took the loss, going the first 2.2 innings. Leila Cheater went the final 1.2 innings in relief.
PORUM 9, GORE 0, 5 INN.
Thursday in Porum, Porum pitcher Jaelyn Smith threw a three-hitter with two strikeouts in five innings.
In defeat, Emily Daily was 2-for-3, while Hallie Brewer singled for the only hits for Gore off Smith.
Jemma Peevy (0-1) suffered the loss, going the first three innings with three strikeouts. Alevia Reasnor went the final inning.
HEAVENER 15, GANS 2, 3 INN.
HAWORTH 9, GANS 1, 4 INN.
Thursday and Friday at the Leflore Tournament, the Lady Grizzlies opened the season with a pair of losses in the tournament.
In the loss to Heavener, after the Lady Grizzlies scored twice in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead, the Lady Wolves responded with a 14-run third inning to put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Abigail Leach and Nora Barnea each singled for Gans.
Leach suffered the loss, despite striking out three batters in 2.1 innings. Barnea got the final out of the game. The Lady Grizzlies committed four errors, which led to 10 unearned runs for Heavener.
In the loss to Haworth, the Lady Lions broke a 1-all tie with a three-run fifth inning and a five-run fourth inning.
In defeat, Barnea’s single was the lone hit for the Lady Grizzlies. Leach took the loss, despite fanning 10 batters in four innings. Seven Gans errors led to all the Haworth runs being unearned.

Thursday and Saturday at the Weleetka Tournament, the Lady Warriors lost both games of the tournament, which both ended up being against the host Lady Outlaws.
