Warriors show improvement in final scrimmage of preseason

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

WETUMKA — Webbers Falls Warriors football coach Trent Holt believed he saw improvement out of his team in its final preseason scrimmage last Friday night against the host Wetumka Chieftains.

While officially no touchdowns were scored by either team, the Warriors likely would have had about two or three TDs on the night.

“It’s hard to tell because if somebody got out in the open, we blew the whistle (for players’ protection sake),” Holt said. “We had two or three chances to score.”

Holt said he saw the most improvement on the defensive side of the ball.

“We definitely looked better defensively,” he said. “We did some good things (offensively). We were shuffling a lot of kids in on the offensive line to try to nail down who is going where (to which position). We played better, I think, on offense, but it was on defense where we made the most improvement.”

The Warriors will begin the 2025 season with a road game against the Quinton Savages at 7 p.m. this Friday.
