Muldrow pitcher throws two-hitter against Lady Diamonds

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

Muldrow pitcher Kaydence Young threw a two-hitter as the Lady Bulldogs completed the District 4A-6 sweep of the Sallisaw Lady Diamonds as Muldrow blanked Sallisaw 10-0 in a five-inning, run-ruled contest Tuesday evening in Muldrow.

Young (2-3) struck out four batters and only allowed two runners to get into scoring position.

A sacrifice fly by Amaya Duran put the Lady Bulldogs (6-6 overall, 3-2 in district play) ahead 1-0 after an inning.

After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Bulldogs got a two-RBI single by Jaydin Dean in the third inning to up Muldrow’s advantage to 3-0 after three innings.

The Lady Bulldogs put away the game with a six-run fourth inning as back-toback RBI singles by Dean and Amaya Duran, a Sallisaw error, a sacrifice fly by Haven Nickson and a two-run single by Aliyah Duran put Muldrow ahead 9-0 four innings.

The Lady Bulldogs put the game into run-rule status in the fifth inning on Noelia Parga’s RBI single, scoring Young from second base after Muldrow’s starting pitcher opened the frame with a double.

For the game, Young and Amarie Duran each were 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored, while Dean was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and a run scored for Muldrow, which had all of last week’s games rained out.

In defeat, Brinley Mills and JoLee Curson each singled for the only hits for the Lady Diamonds (6-7, 3-4). Curson (1-1) suffered her first loss of the season.
