OSBI investigating inmate death at Sequoyah County Jail

The OSBI has taken the lead in the investigation of an inmate death that was discovered Friday at the Sequoyah County Jail.

At about 2:30 a.m. Friday, jail staff discovered a 43-year-old female inmate unresponsive in her cell. Staff immediately initiated emergency procedures and contacted emergency medical services.

There were no apparent signs of injury or trauma. The individual had been in custody for about three weeks.
