Roland, Muldrow go 3-1 in I-40 Shootout; Gore goes 2-2 in 2-day event

The Roland Lady Rangers and the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs each went 3-1 over the two-day Interstate 40 Shootout, which took place Thursday at Central High School and Saturday at Roland.

The Lady Rangers beat Muldrow 2-1 on Thursday but lost earlier in the day 4-1 to Checotah. On Saturday, the Lady Rangers defeated Central 6-1 and Gore 4-0.

The Lady Bulldogs won their final three games in the two-day event after losing to their archrivals as Muldrow defeated Central 11-2 on Thursday and won twice on Saturday — 4-3 over Checotah and 5-0 over Gore.

The Lady Pirates went 2-2 in the event, with victories over Checotah (12-1 score) and Central (6-2) on Thursday.

The Lady Tigers went winless as they not only lost to Roland, Muldrow and Gore, but also to Checotah by the score of 9-1 on Saturday.

THURSDAY’S GAMES

ROLAND 2, MULDROW 1

The Lady Rangers (10-9) scored single runs in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bulldogs cut their deficit to 2-1 in the fifth inning on Jaela Grayson’s fly ball, scoring Jaydin Dean. However, the Lady Bulldogs got no closer.

For the game, Adriana Moya was 2-for-3 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, while Addyson Clark singled with an RBI for Roland.

McKinna Cooper (10-9) got the win, getting two strikeouts in five innings.

In defeat, Amarie Duran was 2-for-3 for the Lady Bulldogs (11-8).

Kaydence Young (4-4) suffered the loss, despite fanning seven batters in five innings.

GORE 6, CENTRAL 2

The Lady Pirates (11-8) scored single runs in each of the first two innings, then added a run in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning for a 6-0 lead.

For the game, Emily Daily was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, River Shoemake was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Hallie Brewer doubled with a run batted in and a run scored, Kylie McEver doubled with a run scored, Maddison Douglass doubled with an RBI and Sophie O’Connor doubled with two RBIs for Gore.

Alevia Reasnor (8-4) got the win as she struck out 10 batters in six innings.

In defeat, Alyvia Warner was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored, Charlie Petree and Keeley Poindexter each singled with an RBI and Brianna Taylor singled for the Lady Tigers (3-14).

Addison Howard (3-9) suffered the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in six innings.

MULDROW 11, CENTRAL 2

The Lady Bulldogs took control of the game early as they scored three runs in the first inning and four runs in each of the second and third innings for an 11-0 lead.

For the game, Haven Nickson was 3-for-4 with a double, five runs batted in and two runs scored, Amarie Duran was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Aliyah Duran was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored and Noelia Parga doubled with an RBI for Muldrow.

Dean (7-4) got the win going the first 3.2 innings with four strikeouts. Young got the final out in relief.

In defeat, Charlie Petree singled with an RBI, Alyvia Warner singled and scored once and Addison Howard and Keeley Poindexter each singled for Central.

Howard took the loss, although she recorded two strikeouts in 2.2 innings. Rylie Wilson went the rest of the way.

GORE 12, CHECOTAH 1

Gore pitcher Alevia Reasnor threw a fourinning three-hitter with seven strikeouts.

The Lady Pirates, who trailed 1-0 in the opening inning, scored three runs in the first inning, four runs in the second inning and five runs in the third inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Kylie McEver was 3-for-3 with a double, her second home run of the season, four runs batted in and two runs scored, Emily Daily was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored, Jimma Peevy was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Sophie O’Connor was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and River Shoemake doubled and scored twice for Gore.

CHECOTAH 4, ROLAND 1

After the Lady Rangers cut their deficit to 2-1 after an inning, the Lady Wildcats scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to preserve their win.

In defeat, Adriana Moya was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Roland.

McKinna Cooper took the loss, despite fanning four batters in five innings.

SATURDAY’S GAMES

ROLAND 4, GORE 0

Roland pitcher McKinna Cooper threw a sixinning, three-hitter with four strikeouts.

The Lady Rangers scored twice in the first inning, once in the second inning and once in the fifth inning.

For the game, Lillian Cole was 2-for-3 and Karsyn Serjeant was 2-for-2 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored.

In defeat, Kylie McEver doubled and Jimma Peevy, Sophie O’Connor and Hallie Brewer each singled for Gore.

Peevy (3-4) was the hard-luck loser as she fanned six batters in five innings.

MULDROW 5, GORE 0

Muldrow pitcher Kaydence Young threw a six-inning three-hitter with seven strikeouts.

The Lady Bulldogs scored twice in the second inning and three runs in the sixth inning.

For the game, Young was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Raegan Newbern was 2-for-2 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, Jaela Grayson was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs and Aliyah Duran doubled with two RBIs and a run scored for Muldrow.

In defeat, Alevia Reasnor was 2-for-3 for Gore.

Reasnor took the loss as she struck out two batters in six innings.

ROLAND 6, CENTRAL 1

The Lady Rangers scored once in the first inning and three runs in the third inning for a 4-0 lead. The Lady Tigers scored once in the fourth inning to cut their deficit to 4-1 after four innings but got no closer.

For the game, Adriana Moya was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored, while McKinna Cooper was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Roland. Cooper got the win, throwing a five-hitter.

In defeat, Jhaselyn Gonzalez tripled and scored once, Keeley Poindexter singled with an RBI and Alyvia Warner, Brianna Taylor, Addison Howard and Zoey Lattimore each singled for Central. Howard took the loss.

MULDROW 4, CHECOTAH 3, 8 INN.

Jaydin Dean’s one-out RBI double scored Kesslyn Pratt in the eighth inning for the game-winning hit for the Lady Bulldogs.

For the game, Amarie Duran was 2-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored, while Kaydence Young was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Muldrow.

Dean got the win, going all eight innings with four Ks.

CHECOTAH 9, CENTRAL 1

Checotah pitcher Shaelynn Casey three-hit the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Wildcats scored three runs in the first inning, once in the second inning and four runs in the third inning for an 8-0 lead.

Lily Kutil’s RBI single in the fourth inning scored Keeley Poindexter for Central’s only run.

In defeat, Kutil hit an RBI single, Poindexter singled and scored once and Charlie Petree singled.

Addison Howard took the loss, going the first three innings. Petree pitched the fourth inning, and Rylie Wilson got the final out.
