CASC names coaching duo for cheerleaders
POTEAU — Carl Albert State College is proud to announce the return of Tara Foos as cheerleading coach and the addition of Cortney Payne as assistant cheer coach, bringing a dynamic combination of experience, passion and Viking pride to the program. Foos returns to the helm after previously leading the Vikings cheer program from 2011-15. In addition to her role as the Upward Bound math and science coordinator, Foos is dedicated to helping students succeed both in and out of the classroom.
“I’m excited to return as the head cheerleading coach at Carl Albert State College,” Foos said. “My goal is to foster a team that not only achieves athletic excellence but also develops the discipline, teamwork and leadership skills that are essential for success in all areas of life. I look forward to working with our talented student-athletes to represent Carl Albert with pride and spirit.”
Payne, a proud member of the CASC family since 2009, will join Foos in coaching the CASC cheerleaders. Payne started her Viking journey as a student, later becoming a dedicated staff member. Now, she will step into her new role as assistant cheer coach. As the administrative assistant to CASC President Jay Falkner, Payne is known for her energy, dedication and unwavering love for CASC.
“I’m beyond excited to team up with Coach Foos to inspire, encourage and lead our cheer squad,” Payne said. “We’re ready to bring the Viking spirit to life — loud, proud and full of energy!”
