By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

Local high school cross country runners will be seeking berths to their respective state meet as they try to qualify for state at Saturday’s regional meets.

The Sallisaw and Muldrow runners will be at the Class 4A Regional Meet at Henryetta, with the girls running at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by the boys’ race at 11:45 a.m. Saturday.

The top six teams automatically will qualify all of their runners, then the top seven individuals who place who are not members of the top six statequalifying teams also will make state.

The Roland runners also will be at Henryetta for their Class 3A Regional Meet, which will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday for the Lady Rangers and 9:45 a.m. Saturday for the Rangers.

The top five teams automatically will qualify all of their runners, then the top seven individuals who place who are not members of the top five state-qualifying teams also will make state.

The Central Lady Tigers will compete in the Class 2A Regional Meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at Oklahoma City Heritage Hall High School.

The top five teams automatically will qualify all of their runners, then the top 12 individuals who place who are not members of the top five state-qualifying teams also will make state.

The Gore runners will be in the Class A Regional Meet in Henryetta. The Lady Pirates’ quartet of Amelia White, Rayleigh Moore, Gracie Bruce and Avery Hoog each will try to snatch one of the top 12 individual state berths after the runners of the top five teams which qualify for state have been set aside. The Lady Pirates’ regional meet will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Gore Pirate runner Clayton White will be in the same boat, trying to grab one of the top 12 individual state berths after the runners of the top five teams which qualify for state have been set aside. White’s regional meet will start at 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

The state meets will take place Oct. 25 at North Rock Creek High School, located north of Shawnee.
