Pet calendar photo contest returns

Your TIMES is again hosting a Pet Calendar Photo Contest, with the top vote-getters featured in the 2026 pet calendar.

The top 12 pets will be featured as the main photo for one of the 12 months in the 2026 calendar. The owner whose pet receives the most votes will be able to pick which month their pet is featured, and will grace the cover of the calendar.

Your $15 entry guarantees a spot somewhere in the calendar. Plus, each entrant will also receive a copy of the 2026 calendar — a $10 value — and they will receive five votes to kickstart their pet entry.

Each vote is only $1, and the contest is open to photos of all pets.

The contest opened for entries at 10 a.m. today, and will run through 10 p.m. on November 28.

The contest is also available 24/7 on the Your TIMES Facebook page, and can be shared across the worldwide web.

To enter, submit a photo of your pet along with a short bio or story about your pet, and pay the $15 entry fee. Entry can be done on the Your TIMES Facebook page or in person at the newspaper office at 111 N. Oak in Sallisaw.

All voting proceeds will be donated to local Sequoyah County animal rescue groups — Sallisaw Animal Care facility, Sequoyah Animal Advocates, Barking for a Cause Animal Rescue, and Ahimsa Rescue Foundation.

Last year, this contest raised $6,632, an amount that included entry fees, vote donations, calendar pre-orders and calendar date reservations. After website hosting fees, administration fees and credit card payment fees were paid, the amount donated to the area animal shelters and rescues was $5,651, with each group receiving a donation of $1,412.75.

“All of our rescue groups have told us that this contest provides a significant donation, and that they greatly appreciate the contribution,” says Carrie Carberry, Your TIMES advertising director.

The 2026 Pet Calendar Photo Contest not only helps our communities, but also shows off your special pet. Enter the Pet Calendar Photo Contest beginning today, and share with all of your friends and family and show off your special pet.
