Lady Vikings compete at Missouri Valley Open

MARSHALL, Mo. — The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings wrestling team competed in the Missouri Valley Open, which took place Nov. 21-22.

Laila Mirza, who wrestled at 117 pounds, had the best success as she went 2-2. She pinned Avila’s Rihanna Ricks in 1:15 before losing by technical fall to McKendree University’s Norah Swaim. After pinning Lehigh’s Avery Hines in 1:27, Mirza lost by technical fall to Fort Hays State’s Leiannah Landreth.

Three other wrestlers won at least one match.

At 138 pounds, Samantha Graciano lost 5-4 to Giada Cucchiara of Baker University — where former CASC wrestling coach Jake Lords is now coaching — before defeating Albion’s Naomi Grummet 4-2. Her 12-10 loss to Baker University’s Leighanna Patz eliminated Graciano from the tournament.

Madison Roe, who competed at 124 pounds, lost by pinfall in 2:51 by Baker University’s Chloe Herrick before pinning Hawkeye Community College’s Chloe Sokolik in 2:19. Roe then lost by technical fall to Adams State’s Bella Devoto.

At 110 pounds, Isabella Salas lost by technical fall to Iowa Central Community College’s Damiyah Smith, then she bounced back with a pinfall victory in 3:47 over Fort Hays State’s Isabella Cross before losing by pinfall in 1:11 to Iowa Central Community College’s Aneth Campos.

Holidae Banfield, wrestling at 207 pounds, lost by pinfall in 35 seconds to Grand View’s Ariana Chavez and lost by technical fall to Texas Women’s University’s Katana Leafaatoto.

At 180 pounds, Emily Foster lost by pinfall in 29 seconds to Naomi Simon and lost by technical fall to Colorado Mesa’s Kimberly Carlin.

Kristen Barnes, who wrestled at 138 pounds, lost by pinfall in 2:56 to Morningside’s Adilene Delgadillo and was pinned in 1:57 by Texas Women’s University’s Cora-Yvette Carr.

At 131 pounds, Cambria Piovesan lost by technical fall to Dru Turner and was pinned in 2:48 by Avila’s Chloe Taylor.

Mallory Sellars, who competed at 131 pounds, lost by pinfall in 5:48 to Southeast Community College’s Lacy Lemburg and lost by technical fall to Evelyn Holmes-Smith.

At 124 pounds, Jaxi Ervin lost by technical fall to Oklahoma State’s Hannah Henderson and lost by technical fall to Tarleton State’s Isabel Rodriguez.

Kaylee Campbell, who wrestled at 124 pounds, lost by technical fall to Devoto and lost by technical fall in 4:22 to Schreiber University’s Janel Golderos.

At 110 pounds, Tatum Dolan lost by technical fall to University of St. Mary’s Alexsys Jacquez and lost by technical fall to Ottawa University’s Alejandra Mezano.

The Lady Vikings will return to action in the Conner-Oppenheimer Open this Friday in Crete, Neb., which will conclude the 2025 portion of their season.
