Several local wrestlers place in Viking Open

POTEAU — Several local wrestlers, representing four organizations, placed at last Saturday’s Viking Open, which took place at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse on the campus of Carl Albert State College.

Sallisaw Takedown Club wrestler Briar James won two titles within the age 15-and-younger division as he took gold at both 140-155 pounds and 155-158 pounds.

Six other Sallisaw Takedown Club wrestlers won championships as Jade Coffman (girls age 8-and-younger division, 51-54 pounds), Clayton Warner (age 10-and-younger, 120 pounds), Kole Knoke (age 10-and-younger, 131 pounds to heavyweight), Kylie Stanhope (girls age 12-and-younger, 92 pounds), Jaxton Roth (age 15-and-younger, 126 pounds) and Melania Duke (girls age 15-and-younger, 117 pounds).

Five Sallisaw Takedown Club wrestlers, Adain Holmes (age 6-and-younger division, 52-55 pounds), Parker Wilson (age 6-and-younger, 49 pounds), Patrick Real (age 8-and-younger, 67-70 pounds), Gabriella McFarland (girls age 15-and-younger, 82-91 pounds) and Elecktra Locust (girls age 15-and-younger, heavyweight), were runners-up.

Maverick Coffman (age 6-and-younger division, 46 pounds), Dean McInerney (novice age 8-and-younger, 58 pounds) and Sean Taylor (age 12-and-younger, 130 pounds) each finished third for the Sallisaw Takedown Club.

Coming in fourth place for the Sallisaw Takedown Club were Kohlson Ferguson (novice age 8-and-younger division, 61 pounds), Elijah Matlock (age 10-and-younger, 67-70 pounds) and Destiny Clarke (girls age 15-and-younger, 102-110 pounds).

Roland Youth League Wrestling saw two members get crowned champion.

Channing Davidson was the champion at heavyweight in the novice age 10-and-younger division, while he was runner-up at 131 pounds to heavyweight in the age 10-and-younger division. Ross Richards took gold at 49 pounds in the age 6-and-younger division.

Roland Youth League Wrestling members Tye Richards (age 10-and-younger division, 55-61 pounds), Chipper Stubbs (age 10-and-younger, 73 pounds) and Krew Schultz (10-and-younger, 110 pounds) all were runners-up.

Coming in third for Roland Youth League Wrestling were Griffey Eubanks (6-and-younger division, 60 pounds), Remington Peters (novice 8-and-younger, 52 pounds), Bretley “Gage” Peters (novice age 8-and-younger, 61 pounds), Ripken Eubanks (age 10-and-younger, 131 pounds to heavyweight), Ty Fowlkes (novice age 10-and-younger, 67-70 pounds) and Caden Davidson (age 15-and-younger, 155-158 pounds).

Roland Youth League Wrestling members Jeremiah Cherry (novice age 10-and-younger, 100 pounds) and Tommy Greschke (age 15-and-younger, 112-119 pounds) were fourth.

Six Brushy Wrestling Club members won titles.

Rocklyn Johnson was the 102-110 pounds champion in the girls age 15-and-younger division as well as being named the Outstanding Wrestler.

Tristen Cross (age 12-and-younger division, 100 pounds), Rylan Henry (age 12-and-younger, 8896 pounds) and Layten Cross (age 12-and-younger, 120 pounds) also claimed gold. Just a week prior at the World of Wrestling Kickoff Classic on Nov. 21-22 in Tulsa, Layten Cross was runner-up at 96 pounds.

Avie Lamp placed in three different divisions. She was the champion at 70-74 pounds in the girls age 10-and-younger division, the runner-up at 75-85 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division and fourth at 6770 pounds in the open age 10-and-younger division.

McKynlee Cantrell won the title at 170 pounds in the girls age 10-and-younger division, while she was second at 105-112 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division.

Pattrick Fletcher also was a multiple-placer as he was runner-up at 80-92 pounds in the age 15-and-younger division and was fourth at 88-96 pounds in the 12-and-younger division.

Coming in second for the Brushy Wrestling Club were Hayley Bentley (girls age 15-and-younger division, 102-110 pounds) and Ezlynn Bentley (girls age 6-and-younger, 37-49 pounds).

Ruby Johnson (girls age 10-and-younger division, 88 pounds), Jessie Bentley (girls age 10-and-younger, 95-108 pounds) and Colton Cross (age 6-and-younger, 49 pounds) were third, while Paisley Edgington was fourth at 61 pounds in the girls novice age 8-and-younger) and at 58-62 pounds in the girls age 8-and-younger division for Brushy Wrestling Club.

Several Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling members placed in Saturday’s tournament.

Stetson Andrews was a double champion as he took the gold at both 75-83 pounds in the novice age 8-and-younger division and at 73-76 pounds in the novice age 10-and-younger division.

Aiden Robertson was another double placer for Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling as he won the title at 88-100 pounds in the novice age 12-and-younger division, while he was third at 100-105 pounds in the novice age 12-and-younger division.

Three other Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling members won championships — Hastin Chitty (age 6-and-younger division, 40-43 pounds), Jettson Constant (age 8-and-younger, 7583 pounds) and Garrett Sandy (novice age 10-and-younger, 110 pounds).

Coming in runners-up for Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling were Laiken Andrews (novice age 12-and-younger division, 88-100 pounds) and Beau Moore (age 15-and-younger, 126 pounds).

Luke Robertson (novice age 10-and-younger division, 80-85 pounds), Isabella Mannon (girls age 10-and-younger, 70-74 pounds) and Wyatt Chitty (age 15-and-younger, 8092 pounds) placed third for Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling.

Finishing fourth for Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling were Dagni Rodriguez (novice age 8-and-younger division, 49 pounds), Royer Hernandez (novice age 8-and-younger, 55 pounds) and Daxton Robertson (novice age 10-and-younger, 64 pounds).
