Gore ties for 4th at Coweta Tournament; Roland duo competes in 2-day event
COWETA — The Gore Pirates wrestling team finished in a tie for fourth place with Ada at the Coweta Tournament, which took place last Friday and Saturday.
In the high school portion of the tournament on Friday, the Pirates and the Cougars each finished with 97.5 points, finishing behind team champion and host Coweta (321.5 points), Stillwater (111.5) and Locust Grove (101).
Jaydan Gates was runner-up at 165 pounds, while Bladin McCartney (175 pounds) and Kaydin McCartney (215) were each third.
The Roland Rangers had two high school wrestlers in the event.
Ronnie Marks lost both of his matches by pinfall at 120 pounds. Gabe Watson of Fayetteville (Ark.) High School pinned Marks in 1:56 after Marks was leading the match 5-4, then Marks was pinned by Coweta’s Barry Ritter in 23 seconds.
At 113 pounds, Tommy Greschke also suffered a pair of pinfall losses, losing to Tulsa East Central’s Giovanni Zaragoza in 53 seconds and falling to Comet’s Mason Burnham in 16 seconds.
In Saturday’s junior high portion of the tournament, Gore’s Beau Moore was third at 119 pounds.
