Vian, Muldrow wrestlers place in Cherokee County Classic

TAHLEQUAH — Several Vian and Muldrow wrestlers placed in the first Cherokee County Classic, which took place Friday and Saturday at Sequoyah-Tahlequah High School.

In the high school girls’ division, the Lady Wolverines were third with 64.5 points.

Four Lady Wolverines placed, with Maddison Turman winning the title at 120-125 pounds and Carmen Rautenberg taking the championship at 130-135 pounds, while Sidney Cox (130135 pounds) and Aubrey Gant (110-115) were third.

For the Wolverines, they were seventh in the high school boys’ division with 41 points.

Vian’s Garritt Hunt won the 215-heavyweight championship, while 144-pounder Adoff Stahl was second.

In the junior high girls’ division, the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs were runners-up with 50 points.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Audryna Keplar was first at 165-186 pounds, Susan Seltzer was third at 102 pounds, Montana Eubanks was fourth at 117-126 pounds and Zamiah Faucette was fourth at 165-186 pounds.

The Vian Wolverines were third in the junior high boys’ division with 125.5 points.

Justin Rosson (80 pounds), Kalvin Andrade (140), Lex Branham (170), Axl Branham (195) all placed first, with Cain Winans third at 119 pounds and Brently Smith fourth at 132 pounds.

The Vian Lady Wolverines tied Salina for fourth place at 36 points in the team standings in the junior high girls’ division.

Two Lady Wolverines placed as Leila Cheater was the champion and Brinlee Wooten was runner-up at 110 pounds.

The Muldrow Bulldogs were seventh in the junior high boys division with 68 points.

Three ’Dogs placed as Dechlan Waller (126 pounds) and Jesse Marks (heavyweight) were champions, while Carlos Pineda-DeLeon was runnerup at 170 pounds.
