Anticipated snow storm cancels sporting events
While a winter storm is still en route to eastern Oklahoma, Mother Nature has already played a factor in two high school athletic tournaments being canceled.
The two-day Paul Post Wrestling Tournament, which is Sallisaw High School’s wrestling teams’ tournament, that was scheduled to be Friday and Saturday at Paul Post Field House, has been canceled.
Also canceled is the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Tournament in Miami that was to feature the Roland High School basketball teams.
To make up the NEO Tournament’s cancellation, the Roland teams will entertain the Oklahoma City Heritage Hall squads for home games at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ranger Dome.
Four other basketball tournaments — the Warner Eagle Classic, featuring teams from Central and Vian; the Checotah Crossroads Classic, featuring Muldrow; the Porum Cross Telephone Invitational Tournament, featuring Gore and Gans; and the Mounds Invitational Tournament, featuring Webbers Falls — all moved their starting dates to begin today (Wednesday) instead of Thursday, and will end on Friday.
Currently, the Pryor Invitational Tournament featuring the Sallisaw teams is still slated to begin Thursday.
