Gore downs Gans in opening round of Porum tournament

PORUM — The Gore Pirates defeated the Gans Grizzlies 52-19 in the opening round of the Cross Telephone Invitational Tournament on Wednesday night.

The Pirates (9-5) put away the game early, jumping out to a 19-1 lead after a quarter and were never threatened.

For the game, Gore put a trio of players into double figures, led by Cain Cooper’s game-high 12 points, followed by 10 points apiece from Tate Brooksher and Keeton Rowe. Eli Munson scored nine points, followed by Kaiden Denton with six points, Benson Hunt with three points and Cruze Duke with two points.

In defeat, Eli Blackmon scored 11 points to lead the Grizzlies (2-13), followed by Austin Hines with four points and Jessie Phillips and Leland Locust with two points apiece.

MULDROW 59, CHECOTAH JV 19

Wednesday afternoon at the Checotah Crossroads Classic, the Bulldogs (9-4) put away the game early by jumping out to a 27-5 lead after a quarter and were never threatened from there.

For the game, Jack Pyeatt scored a game-high 14 points and Teaguen Collins added 10 points to lead the ’Dogs, followed by D.J. Massey with seven points Jesse Kilinc with six points, Brody Israel with five points, Jace Riggs and Parker Sevenstar with four points each, Avos Denny with three points and Trey Turpin, Ashton Jones and DeShawn Willson with two points apiece.

CENTRAL 58, WILBURTON 40

Wednesday afternoon at the Warner Eagle Classic, the Tigers (7-5) took control early, jumping out to a 15-4 lead after a quarter, but the Diggers cut their deficit to 29-22 at halftime. The Tigers took control once again, this time for good, as they outscored the Diggers 14-6 in the third quarter to take a 43-28 lead into the final period.

For the game, Central put a trio of players into double figures, led by Josh Brunk’s game-high 15 points, followed by Noah Buzzard’s 12 points and Gavin Randolph’s 10 points. Paitton Merrill and Brycen Chandler-Eisman had six points each, followed by Aiden Cawhorn with five points and Jake Woods and Kiefer Bailey with two points apiece.

The Tigers were slated to meet Westville on Thursday evening in the championship semifinals, with the winner going to the title game at 7:30 tonight. The Central-Westville loser will play for third place at 4:40 this afternoon.

VIAN 59, MCCURTAIN 29

Wednesday afternoon at the Warner Eagle Classic, the Wolverines (8-2) jumped out to an 11-9 lead after a quarter en route to a 22-14 halftime advantage. The Wolverines put away the game with a 33-6 third quarter to take a 45-20 lead into the final period.

For the game, Ledger Folsom led Vian with 10 points, followed by Masyn Wright and Rylan Lane with nine points, Jeremiah Marshall with eight points, Dee Antwine with six points, Trace Sanders and Trey Antwine with four points each, Braxton Drake with three points and Joe O’Neal, Isaiah Owens and Drake Collins with two points apiece.

The Wolverines were slated to meet the host Warner Eagles on Thursday night in the championship semifinals, with the winner playing for the tournament title at 7:30 tonight. The Vian-Warner loser will play for third place at 4:40 this afternoon.

ROLAND 79, QUINTON 32

Tuesday night at the Ranger Dome, the Runnin’ Rangers (14-0) wasted little time in taking control of the game as they jumped out to a 27-10 lead after a quarter, which became a 49-21 halftime advantage and a 66-27 lead going into the final period.

For the game, Roland put a trio of players into double figures, led by Raidyn Knight’s game-high 19 points, followed by Damonte “Bubba” Owens with 17 points and Mason Kemp with 11 points. Tae Smith had eight points, followed by Kade Shook with six points, Landon Fowler and Josh Bower with four points each, Daxton Owens and Nathan Cheek each with three points and Cason Perryman and Austin Benham with two points apiece.

The Runnin’ Rangers had their Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Tournament canceled due to the winter storm coming, but they were slated to meet Oklahoma City Heritage Hall on Thursday night at the Ranger Dome.

CENTRAL 71, OKEMAH 58

Tuesday night at Okemah’s Panther Dome, the Tigers (6-5) led virtually from start to finish, leading 16-9 after a quarter, 33-21 at halftime and 51-41 after three periods.

For the game, Josh Brunk led all scorers with a gamehigh 31 points to lead Central, followed by Gavin Randolph with 17 points, Noah Buzzard with seven points, Brycen Chandler-Eisman with five points, Aiden Cawhorn with four points, Jake Woods with three points and Paitton Merrill with two points.

FORT GIBSON 47, MULDROW 46

Tuesday night in Fort Gibson, the Tigers rallied from a 38-34 third-quarter deficit as they outscored the Bulldogs 13-10 in the final period to get the come-from-behind victory.

In defeat, Teaguen Collins scored a game-high 18 points and Jesse Kilinc added 12 points to lead the ’Dogs, followed by Parker Sevenstar with six points, DeShawn Willson with five points, Jermauree Palmer with three points and D.J. Massey with two points.

HOMINY 68, WEBBERS FALLS 28

Wednesday at the Mounds Invitational Tournament, the Bucks, who trailed 11-10 after a quarter, outscored the Warriors 52-17 over the final three quarters — including keeping the Warriors (6-11) scoreless in the final period.

In defeat, Thadan Yandell scored 13 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Cason Newcomer with eight points, Chevy Cole and Eli Hefflin with three points each and Gunner Shelby with a free throw.

The Warriors were slated to meet Chelsea in the consolation semifinals Thursday afternoon, with the winner playing for the consolation championship at 2:30 this afternoon. The Webbers Falls-Chelsea loser will play for seventh place at 11:30 this morning.
