Muldrow, Central girls open tournaments with wins

CHECOTAH — The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs opened the Checotah Crossroads Classic by winning their opening-round game by edging Crossings Christian 43-41 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lady Bulldogs (7-6), who trailed 32-30 after three periods, used a fourthquarter rally to get the job done as they outscored the Lady Knights 13-9 in the final period to get the come-frombehind victory.

For the game, London Hardin scored a game-high 20 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Emma Fields with nine points, Kayla Ellingberg with six points, Leni Cox and Jaydin Dean with three points each and Kilah Ellingberg with two points.

The Lady Bulldogs were slated to meet Tulsa Cascia Hall in Thursday afternoon’s championship semifinals, with the winner advancing to today’s 5 p.m. title game. The loser will play for third place at 2 this afternoon.

CENTRAL 35, HASKELL 12

Wednesday at the Warner Eagle Classic, the Lady Tigers (9-4) blanked the Lady Haymakers 11-0 in the first quarter en route to a 20-2 halftime lead and a 29-10 advantage going into the final period.

For the game, Cambree Bair scored a game-high 16 points to lead Central, followed by Charlie Petree with six points, Sarah Buchanan with four points, Sara Williams and Cheyenne Busch with three points each and Paris Campbell and Gracie Thompson with two points apiece.

The Lady Tigers were slated to meet Oktaha in the championship semifinals on Thursday afternoon, with the winner playing for the championship at 6 tonight. The loser will play for third place at 3:20 this afternoon.

ROLAND 57, QUINTON 23

Tuesday night at the Ranger Dome, the Lady Rangers (9-3) came out of the corral and took control early, leading 15-7 after a quarter en route to a 2810 halftime advantage and a 43-21 lead after three periods. Roland outscored Quinton 14-2 in the fourth quarter.

For the game, Roland put a quartet of players into double figures, led by Molly Carver’s game-high 16 points, followed by Halle Freeman’s 13 points, Lillian Cole’s 12 points and Ryanne Nelke’s 11 points. Adriana Moya added five points.

The Lady Rangers had their Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Tournament canceled due to the winter storm coming, but they were slated to meet Oklahoma City Heritage Hall on Thursday evening at the Ranger Dome.

FORT GIBSON 59, MULDROW 49

Tuesday night in Fort Gibson, the Lady Tigers grabbed an 11-5 lead after a quarter, which became a 24-17 halftime advantage and a 40-32 lead going into the final period.

In defeat, Kilah Ellingberg scored 16 points and Kayla Ellingberg added 13 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs, followed by Gracie Prewett with nine points, Emma Fields with five points and Jaydin Dean and Tae Williams with three points apiece.

OKEMAH 50, CENTRAL 49

Tuesday night at Okemah’s Panther Dome, the Lady Panthers used a fourthquarter rally to doom the Lady Tigers.

With Central leading 41-40 after three quarters, Okemah outscored Central 10-8 in the final period to snatch the win away from the jaws of defeat.

In defeat, Sara Williams and Cheyenne Busch shared game-high honors with 16 points each, while Cambree Bair added 13 points to lead Central. Brianna Taylor and Paris Campbell scored two points apiece.

WESTVILLE 66, VIAN 19

Wednesday afternoon at the Warner Eagle Classic, the Lady Yellowjackets stung the Lady Wolverines (0-8) early as Westville jumped out to a 21-5 lead after a quarter to take control of the game.

In defeat, Kiah Richardson led Vian with five points, followed by Gracie Buttery and Rayleigh Terrill with four points each and Payton Crutchfield and Raylan McEver with three points apiece.

The Lady Wolverines were slated to meet McCurtain in the consolation semifinals on Thursday night, with the winner advancing to today’s 12:40 p.m. consolation championship. The Vian-McCurtain loser will play for seventh place at 10 this morning.

STROTHER 40, GORE 39

Wednesday afternoon at the Cross Telephone Invitational Tournament in Porum, the Lady Yellowjackets, who trailed 34-28 after three quarters, outscored the Lady Pirates 12-5 in the final period to get the come-from-behind victory.

In defeat, Kennedy Williams scored a game-high 16 points and Emily Daily added 14 points to lead the Lady Pirates (7-6), followed by Gracie Bruce with six points and River Shoemake with three points.

The Lady Pirates were scheduled to meet Weleetka on Thursday afternoon in the consolation semifinals, with the winner playing for the consolation championship at 10 a.m. Friday.

TULSA REGENT PREP 56, WEBBERS FALLS 18

Wednesday morning at the Mounds Invitational Tournament, the Lady Rams jumped out to a 15-8 lead after a quarter, but they put away the game in the second period as they outscored the Lady Warriors 17-1 to take a 32-9 halftime lead, which became a 49-15 advantage heading into the final period.

In defeat, Allie Patterson scored six points to lead the Lady Warriors (6-10), followed by Katie Frazier with five points, Hannah Kay Mason with three points and Abbie Patterson and Paizley Turley with two points apiece.

The Lady Warriors were slated to face Summit Christian on Thursday afternoon in the consolation semifinals, with a win putting them into Friday afternoon’s consolation title game at 1 p.m. If the Lady Warriors lost Thursday afternoon, they will play for seventh place at 10 a.m. Friday.

EDITOR’S NOTE: No information was reported on the Gans Lady Grizzlies’ Wednesday morning game with Porum in the opening round of the Cross Telephone Invitational Tournament by press time.
