Resignations approved, audit contract accepted

Roland Public School’s Board of Education met on June 12 where the board accepted several resignations, tabled two other’s employment, and approved an Audit Contract and Engagement Letter.

Roland Public School’s Board of Education met on June 12 where the board accepted several resignations, tabled two other’s employment, and approved an Audit Contract and Engagement Letter.

Resignations were reportedly accepted from Seth Roberts, Steven Ostrander, Valeri Cantrell, Christina White, Rachael Greer, and Misty Buelow.

The board members voted to move into executive session at 6:15 p.m. to discuss on whether or not to hire/not hire new employees, and Chris Davis for school safety and safety upgrades. Upon reconvening about 30 minutes later, it was announced no official votes or action were taken.

Charles Lemont from Oklahoma School Insurance Group made a presentation via phone to cover the resolution of the schools to join them for the 2023-24 school year. The board voted to join, with insurance policy changes.

The board tabled hiring a teacher assistant and high school math teacher but approved the Title I School Wide Site Plan.

Also approved during the meeting were the following:

• Audit Engagement Letter from the 2022-23 FY audit from Wilson, Dotson & Assoc., PLLC.

• Contract for Audit of the school for the 2022-23 school year.

• Fundraisers for the 2023-24 school year

• Mental Health Crisis Protocol Policy EJF

• New account request for Roland Elementary PE

• Uses of cafeteria for 1983 class reunion on July 21 Superintendent Lori Wiggins reported on summer projects and said administrators were attending the CCOSA Summer Conference in Oklahoma City, June 12-14.

The board unanimously voted to approve the renewal of the sublease agreement for $6,430,000 for July 1, 2019 between the District and Sequoyah County Education Facilities Authority for FY ending June 30, 2024, as required under the provision of the agreement.

In financial matters, the board voted to approve 2022-23 General Fund (GF) encumbrances PO# 786-876 for $148,306.96 for April 3-28, 2023; Building Fund #123-133 for $6,050.20; Coop Fund #89-96 for $975.18; GF #25962651 and #3820-2850 for $439,285.11; GF #2880, 2881, 2888 and 2889 for $5,256.44; GF payroll #2652-2819 and 2851-2879 for $641,265.68; and #28822887 for $752.35.
